Re: My woodworking attempts

sometimes I do not understand why woodworkers tend to overcomplicate a simple problem.

good luck Mr. Earl8

hindi ba sa barrio...kawayan bakod ok na?who brought arts into this country? the europeans maybe.
there they make things too complicated...kaya me victorian, rennaissance, baroque, mission style..etc...

the kreg jig is intended for DIYourselfers who cannot wait for complicated joineries for simple functional projects...in my opinion it is not artful but it helps me build things quick and equally strong..

and btw..you get this self satisfaction when you create a perfect fitting dovetail joinery (by itself does need any fastener) by hand without that fancy jig...its more for the production woodworker.

i bellieve a true modern woodworker knows how to complicate things...different types of tools for different types of joints, different finishes and adhesives for different species of wood etc..and should also know the economics.

LOL!

BTW, it's a disease not limited to woodworking. Other 'professions' do it too, especially ... .

Good to have a reality check every now and then.

Trick is to be "as simple as possible, but no simpler"

Re: My woodworking attempts

@glen - fully agree with you. Midway during the project i started thinking na pinapahirapan ko buhay ko infact mas mura at mas mabilis pa kung bibili na lang ako ng finished product pero masochista yata ako at nagenjoy ako.

Mga sir salamat sa encouragements. Ayan tuloy napabili tuloy ako ng spray paint that doesnt use a compressor. Wagner Power Products 0417005 HVLP Control Sprayer and brand. I was at lowe's kanina ( portland, oregon) and saw it. Hehe bought it without reading reviews. Ayun when i got back sa hotel 50-50 ang review.

Looking at starting the following projects planned and approved na ni mrs... Printer stand, 2 small filing cabinets/pedestal type na may gulong, 1 simple multipurpose table and a cabinet for the garage....

CMIIW but IIRC, somebody once told me that in woodworking, joints would result in a sturdier finish (ofcourse when done properly) rather than using nails as the joints comprise of things of the same material and strength. ie: between metal and wood, the metal's stronger than the wood and movements where the two material are in contact would leave the original space initially occupied by the nail when it was first nailed unto the wood become more loose. IMO.

Safety first - always wear face/eye/ear/hand protection as a minimum.
