try Ace hardwares..MOA branch, North Edsa, Mega Mall...they have their own line of ACE Poly oil based paints and stains...pricey but you get what you paid for...how quick it do you want? apply a coat and wait for 4 hours..less tacky...then apply another...but best if you let pass a day for the next coat...of course this is not the ideal in wet weather.

otherwise, you can try PYE brand (Malaysia)..available in most Wilcon and Home Depot

Yup meron din sa ace nung pye. Around 500-600 per liter ata yun. Ok naman quality. Oil based yun. Most poly sold here are oil based naman unless stated water based. Mineral spirit marami ka mabibili, tawag dun dito satin is paint thinner 😀 .

Mineral spirits and paint thinners are close chemically but not identical...paint thinner is half the cost of mineral spirits and basically works the same. Other than the price, the differences between the two solvents are subtle:

• Both are petroleum products.
• Both can be used to thin oil-based paints and varnishes and to clean paintbrushes.
• Paint thinner is mineral spirits, but in a less refined form. It contains other types of solvents, which makes it a lot smellier and more volatile.
• Mineral spirits is not as stinky. Because it's more refined, it's slightly more effective in smaller quantities than paint thinner (excerpt from Famliy Handyman)

thinning poly using mineral spirits is better imho coz i did not have good experience using the ordinary paint thinner in bottle of gin sold in mall hardwares or your local hardware... polyurethane paints are expensive and would not want to waste it using cheap paint thinners.
I use these paint thinners just to thin enamel based paints...i used to clean my brushes from using enamel based paints but since paint thinners have become more expensive than brushes, either i wrap the brush in plastic overnite for the next coat or throw them away when im done.
