good day fellas!
After several weekends, finally natapos ko na ang kitchen cabinet namin at crib for our baby on the way. I'll be posting the pics later.
So yung paint job, I already bought a baby roller, 2-inch brush, 1- inch brush for trimmings at metal putty spreader. I intend to buy the following (di ko alam ang measurements):
-1 4-liter can Flatwall Enamel
-1 1-liter can Glazing Putty
-1 4-liter can Semi-Gloss Enamel
So after sanding the cabinet and crib, prime them using Flatwall enamel, smoothen using Glazing putty, then finish using Semi-Gloss. Kelangan ko po ba gumamit ng thinner? How about sa mixing of colors, hinahalo lang ba yung tinting color ng Boysen up to the desired shade?
Any brand na affordable na mabilis ang curing time? Wife is pregnant and don't want her exposed to fumes. 4 liters is around 560PhP sa Wilcon. Safe po ba ang Boysen paints sa crib?
Thanks in advance 🙂

Hey Dogman,
Buying a gallon of paint, you will see some instructions at the back of the can/container that says mix or stir well and ready to use. Its up to you to add a little paint thinner if the paint is too thick for you but actually when properly stirred, its good to go, you can apply it as is with a brush. With regards to the tinting color, yes it is just mixed to your paint for a desired pastel shade but be sure your tinting color is for enamel use and not the water based tinting colors.
So sorry, the brand of this paint slipped my mind, yes there is this paint that is eco-healthy friendly, its odorless and dries fast, there used to be a commercial before of this on television a few months ago, not sure if its Boysen or Davies.
Hope this helps in a way !! 😉

Re: newbie painter
another question mga kapatid.
may nakagamit na po ba sa inyo ng Boysen Tinting Color?
does it prolong the drying time of the paint? I used it recently with boysen semi-gloss enamel for the final coat. I painted the piece Tuesday, and up until this morning, malgkit pa din ang pintura. Yung other part of the piece na pinunturahan ko ng semi gloss enamel na plain white is already dry and I was even able to clean it using wached cloth.
may naka-experience na ba sa inyo ng ganito?
:thanks:

Used to excess, it will definitely retard drying.
What I mean is that tinting colors are used to effect SMALL changes in hue:
If you want, say, 50% gray, you mix white enamel with black enamel.
You DON'T buy a can of white enamel and add a lot of black tinting color.
Iba naman kasi ang vehicle component ng QDE from that of tinting color.
The liquid vehicle is precisely what makes QDE "quick drying".
The humid weather will retard drying even further, and after it dries, there's
1-4 weeks of pigment outgassing, an unpleasant smell associated w/ enamel.

Again, yung straight QDE (walang halo) performed as advertised.
In small amounts, tinting color will affect the quick-drying time to similarly small degree.
In greater amounts, greater degrees. In your shoes, I'd scrape that gunk off and mix
The appropriate colors of QDE properly (adjusting only slightly with tints) then repaint.
After drying allow a week to outgas the dried-paint odor.
Or... You could just wait for it to dry at its own pace, helping it along with ventilation.
JM2 and good luck.

Re: newbie painter
thanks horge for that.
now I know. so I just to wait then. the other parts are already "dry to touch" so I think I'll have to give it another week.
Re: newbie painter
i use Lacquer Base Paint. for me faster curing time, less odor over a period of time.
abit costly but im happy with the result.
Re: newbie painter
the final coat did dry up to a hard and smooth finish after 5 days. I guess I was just too impatient giving the fact that it was my first time to use tinting color. now I know.:D
for my next project, I will use Davies Aqua Gloss It to get the color I wanted with little odour.
salamat sa mga replies. 🙂
