i'm building an ottoman or sometimes called footstool,

to compliment the morris chair that i've made,

and to get the most relaxing feel of the morris chair, kailangan daw naka-angat ang paa,
that's why i decided to make a pair of this ottoman...

i'm going to used only the available materials that i have, like the left-over tanguile that i have been lying around, tsaka no more yakal na sa wilcon, naubos ko na ata...
and my left-over foam and fabrics.

here is the start of the build....

cut or milled all the pieces to it's specified dimension ( length, width, thickness )

it's better to have a detailed plan of the project, before starting right up.
a math notebook, comes handy for me...this is where i put the plan of some of my projects.
para putol n lang ng putol....

then started with the mortise, using my mortising jig...

here it goes...

thanks armand,
my feet are looking for something to hang on to, so i decided to build na this footstool, i hope the color of the finish will match the furniture, tanguile ( or white lauan yata yun ) lang kasi ang wood na ginamit ko, puro left-over pa...

:thanks:

Re: ottoman

nice work brader, now since this isn't as critical and as big as your other projects, I suggest you try finishing before assembly... you will see how little glue you will be needing since you do not want squeeze out.
Try it brader, its your next move to the next level which I know you have earned....

as you say master timber...

that's the next step i'm planning to do...

you mean ba hanggang top coat ng poly?

ang plano ko kasi, stain , sanding sealer,
then assemble ,
and then apply the poly top coat.

:thanks:

Re: ottoman

here's an update...

i'm into the finishing process na,

taped the tenon with a masking tape, to rid of the finishing materials...

then apply the stain, hindi na ako ng wipe off, the wood was so soft, it absorbed the stain all the way...i put 2 coats...

then put the sanding sealer...

put the workpieces ( legs ) into a platform, screwed underneath, for easy brushing...

Re: ottoman

scuffed sanded, with a grit 320 sand paper...

this time i removed again the workpieces out of the platform, for easy sanding...

then return it to the platform again...

Re: ottoman

yes mga brad...

the one i used for the ottoman is a china bristle...

i used a polyester type brush ( do it best brand--- the best brush i've ever used ) for the chair and the sofa...

mas matipid at relaxing gawin ang brushing.

yung spray-gun ko ( creston ) diko magamit, nag enjoy kasi ako mag-brush...:mop:

matagal lang talaga ang preparation sa finishing.
