Meron din po ba malapit na lumber yard where I can buy woods around pasig area, specifically sa me ortigas extension/sta.

Re: palochina and other available woods

A great many species of of lumber are pre-treated against pests.
White pine is particularly susceptible to damage from Hylobius abietis
(pine weevil, aka bukbok), and so is often surface-sprayed with certain
insecticides (often orthophosphate based). This is not to be confused
with thoroughly-penetrating 'pressure-treatment', and so most planing
and sanding operations will actually eliminate the treated layers.

IOW, the sanding and planing associated with furniture construction will
tend to render the wood pesticide-free (IOW, safe). This however also will
leave the wood without protection from pests, and demands sealing of all
surfaces.

The main knock against palo-tsina is that it is a softwood.
If the end-use involves significant loading, mag-hardwoods ka na lang.

WRT kiln-dried lumber sourciing...
Whether you get it from a hardware store or a lumber yard, the source
should specify if the lumber is SD or KD. In that sense, where you buy
it from should make no difference (save in retail cost, transport cost, and
overall convenience, etc) as long as YOU specify that you want KD.

I don't have current info wrt Pasig and its environs.
Maybe others can help you find a source.

Re: palochina and other available woods

here's a good source of second hand palochina in Rosario Pasig...click the link below

[COLOR="blue"]PALO CHINA

If you want new (virgin) Kiln Dried palo china 1" x 12" x 12' - drive further up to Ortigas Extension just before the corner where Tropical Hut is located you will find South Island lumber shop. They sell virgin palochina @ P75 pesos per board foot. It is also my source for Kiln dried Mahogany @ P55 per board foot.

Sorry bro rough lahat ng mahogany..the smallest they have is 2"x4" i think.

I'd like to thank this gentleman named Joel who owns a big stock yard in Baytown, Angono, Rizal where palochina of all dimensions can be had for a cheap price. He personally helped me select the sizes of palochina I need. He also owns a furniture shop (Joel & Ken Wood Craft) where you can buy made-to-order furniture built entirely from palochina.
