Sharing my latest commisioned project - A Cabinet for Photo Albums, the client is none other than the President of our company. It all started when I told him that Im gonna give him a wine rack, he then told me to go to his big big house in Loyola Grand Villas. He showed me his collection of wines, his bar and his wines racks. In short, he doesn't need another wine rack and he told me to build him instead a cabinet for his photo albums.

I begun with a sketchup drawing and initially this is the intended outcome.

and here are the WIPS:

I begun with edgebanding the 3/4" plywood with 1"x 2" (real 1x2) with the aid of my shopmade barclamps. The edgebands were grooved for the plywood.

assembly:

the shelves were inserted to the grooves that i previously routed on the side walls.

initially stained using my own shopmade woodstain by mixing Paint thinner, Raw Sienna Oil tinting color, and Boysen Alkyd oil based wood filler, hand applied using a cloth (wipe on)...yes its really messy.

applied a second stain for woodgrain effect.

the finished product..

.

.

I decided to change the door into all glass doors using pivot glass hinges coz it will look like a kitchen cabinet if i framed the glasses.

Final size is 24"W x 51"H x 18"D and finished with 2 coats of sanding sealler and 3 coats of Clear Gloss with sandings in between coats of sanding sealers. I used a brown paper from old paper bags as my sandpaper between coats of the clear gloss varnish. The brown paper served as 2000 grit sandpaper and just enough to smooth the surface before spraying clear gloss.

Thanks nick and edgserpt..madali lang yan kayang kaya nyo rin. Total accumulated hours is 17 from start to finish. Pinakamatagal sa finishing, yung sanding and waiting between coatings.
