Re: Pop up Cabinet build...

I cut some materials for edge bands, since I want them to be bigger than store bought ones. got a new toy in the shop (will post pictures bukas) and cut the miters on it.

Timber, How are these fastened? Glued and nailed butt joints?

mitered edges, and yes, glued, shot with 18ga. nails to hold them in place and clamped. since these are side grain to side grain, the adhesion is more than sufficient.

Re: Pop up Cabinet build...

got the base trimmed to size added the edge bands, which I cut on the Bosch GCM 10M...

the Bosch CMS came with its own gravity rise stand (will write a review soon).

later today I added the edge bands on the short ends.

I do clamp them a bit tight...

Re: Pop up Cabinet build...

got the sides cut to dimensions and ripped some edge band materials. I am leaning toward a face frame design instead of just edge-banding the sides.

help arrived again in time to sand the base and sides smooth.

the center shelf is cut to size and made spacers to ensure alignment when installation comes.

the sides are not glued yet, still at dry fitting mode...

Re: Pop up Cabinet build...

applied stain and sealer on the parts individually.

Golden seems to be very strict inspecting every single joint.

while everything is drying, we started to cut the recess for the legs.

Re: Pop up Cabinet build...

I have made some progress in the pop up table today, I started by gluing the sides in place na. checked for squareness all around.

on top is the top material already in a mock up position. the back cover for the center speaker portion is still not stained.

Re: Pop up Cabinet build...

got it cleaned and milled to size.

handplaneded the sides and started the glue-up.

added several clamps just to make sure of even pressure.

the glue squeeze out is left to partially dry and is cleaned with a chisel and a cabinet scraper.

waiting for the glue to dry, it will be cut to size soon.
