Re: Pop up Cabinet build...

today, I handplaned the top level, cut the rabbet for the pop up portion and started the sealer stain application.

the rabbet is just 3/8" deep. enough to keep the dirt away from the tv and actuator.

the opening cover gets a coat as well...

then the legs gets sanded...

Re: Pop up Cabinet build...

plenty of work done but little pictures...
got the top trimmed to size, sanded the whole top material, rounded the corners and applied another coat of sealer and stain, just to seal the endgrains better.

later that evening when the stain was dry to the touch, I dry fitted it on the body. unfortunately, the camera batteries died on me (cellphone cam lang muna ha?)

Re: Pop up Cabinet build...

finally some pictures that can be seen again, I trimmed the top cover to fit the opening, I just need to round off the edges.

fixed the legs and drilled the shelf pin holes. Then fitted the shelves.

Re: Pop up Cabinet build...

despite continuous convincing the owner not to cut the front area for the speaker placement, I cut the front area since he insisted. rounded the corners to follw all corner profiles and stained and sealed the cut portion.

to my surprise, it did turn out well. very well I should say... I like it a lot!

btw, the cover was already installed in case you missed iton the first picture.

Re: Pop up Cabinet build...

I am not certain of the LCD size, but I think it is around 21". as for the actuator, it would be mechanical type... will post pictures if I get them.

Re: Pop up Cabinet build...

I am so excited on how this beautiful project will come out. It's also my dream furniture, but couldn't afford. If i am not mistaken, TV- lift alone (electrical with remote) cost U$500.

Re: Pop up Cabinet build...

the hardware for the pop up table...
soft close concealed hinges (made in Italy), door knobs and wire management covers...

the soft close hinges are really nice though a bit pricey...
it even has a quick release feature should you need to remove the door for any reason. (click to view)

Re: Pop up Cabinet build...

lots of work to do still, I start by making a groove on the tv box panel...

it receives the half of the full extension slide which will be the guide rails for it.

the other half of the slide is mounted on a piece of stock which was grooved and cut to size.

Re: Pop up Cabinet build...

put them together...

and check for fit...

with both sides done.

I move on to mounting it on the table.

It came out well and centered with a little snug (which is bec of the new slide)...
with no actuator yet, I powered it myself and tried how it runs...
