I used cheap Hudson oil-based wood stain (mahogany color) on my sister's old console table and finished it with Pylox flat clear spray and it still looks good. It's been 4 yrs already.

I suck at brushing on polyurethanes and my old compressor (donated to me) hasnt been activated yet... coz i have zero experience on it. So for the time being a spray on poly or aerosol lacquer is best for my topcoats.

For me I use a mini roller (cloth type not foam) then sand it after it dries up. Worked for me everytime. 😉

are you sure that pylox spray is a lacquer?most spray paints nowadays available on the commercial shelves are of the acrylic type.acrylics are known to adhere to almost any primer maybe it be oil or lacquer as long as has dried completely.i am sure you cant go wrong with what you thought.

recently i chanced upon from my favorite surplus shop lots of canisters of minwax though i think i was late having only a dozen of these Minwax water based poly in gloss and satin finish...yes..its a steal at 99p a piece!

you can take the mrt and drop off at boni station..go to robinsons tricycle parking area. ask around for a ride to HMR for 7 pesos i think..its a 3 minute ride from there.

at HMR, items come and go as fast as they can so chamba lang nakita ko yung spray paints..there are also paints in gallon all US made but not my want at that moment..ill let you know when i visit the shop this week of there are more minwax or some tools you might be interested too.

Apparently, there is such a thing as acrylic lacquer, so although the Pylox is labelled 'aerosol lacquer' it may well be acrylic.

oil-based, lacquer, enamel, shellac, penetrating oil, linseed oil, turpentine...mineral spirits, denatured alcohol, paint thinner, lacquer thinner...ehehehe
