The ref at the common kitchen food area was too low

The shelf made of 1 x 4 panel was where i first truly used the jet table saw's taper rip jig. I needed to taper one piece to cover all the area. Works flawlessly! WEEEE

Why did one piece have to be tapered? Is the shelf and refrigerator not square or rectangular when viewed from above?

Re: quick ref stand for office mini kitchen area

the 1x4s arent perfectly squared to begin (be it timberco, matimco, or other milled softwoods here ) so when you make a panel it will not come out squared. hence a slight taper is needed.

or i couldve jointed them all.. which takes alot more effort on my part 🙂

try rounding over the edges, I will look softer and cleaner... but it is nice as it is, clean and simple... cheers.

Sorry to say Bee but those miter joints were not the correct joints to use. Better would have been mortise and tenon, blind and mitered if you like just like door and window frames.

I'm surprised the Timberco lumber is not square.

Just the same, great to see your certainly a BusyBee.

I agree or even a butt joint would hold the weight better than the mitered ones....

Yeah i agree that a butt joint wouldve been more structurally sound.

But since the ref is quite tiny and i am 3 times the weight of the ref. I tried putting my weight on it and holds very well.

I wanted to try the design aspect more than anything else 🙂

Re: quick ref stand for office mini kitchen area

Could the stand be turned by 90 degrees so that the narrow 1x edge of the legs faces front instead of the 4x face of the legs? Then there could be access to the full width of the shelf.

Re: quick ref stand for office mini kitchen area

yes it could, but it looks ugly coz the side of the braces that holds the shelf panel arent finished well 🙂
