i realized i cant do a proper mortise and tenon on ALL the braces coz my wood is too thin

so i butt jointed the other braces underneath, reinforced with screws

was having problems with how to design the top. This is because i didnt really bother drawing anything when i did this.. pretty much like the dog house, and the aquarium stand hehehe

so laying the boards like this gave me an idea

since the butt jointed brace is lower than the other tenoned brace, it creates a recess where i can slap in a panel and at the same time add rigidity

ran out of the rdjata pine so i decided to put tanguile racing stripes in the middle.. hahahah

now i just need to chamfer all edges and sanding seal then poly with no stain.

you should have asked, I have an extra piece of that pine just hanging around...

oo nga eh. but she needed it by SAT!!!!! its nuts... its nuts i cut and assembled everything in one afternoon... mabuti hindi rough lumber.

the thing feels llike clay when chiseled.

i wanted a shaker table, but that will take ages for me 🙂

funny but ridata pine or any pine for that matter is considered a hardwood, even if it is very soft...
that is the same problem I had when I made an audio bench since I had to screw mount it to the legs. I just reinforced it with epoxy to add strength...

hmmmm

i used resin based glue for this thing more fool proof the h20 resistant stuff... i chiseled wrong on one of the joints. Hence the glue was needed hehehe

well radjata is harder than matimco's weather wood.

Could construction grade lumber handle the stress of a tenon similar to a solid wood?

whats construction grade lumber? tanguile din yun diba? or coco lumber?

I believe they can since pine is softer.

nice work Bee, I like the design it has nice lines. kaya lang di ba dapat yung end grain dapat ang nasa stretchers, para pag nag expand, eh di mag open ang joints ng stretchers?

well i am not expecting it to expand since it will be indoors. contracting was what i had in mind. inside an n'th floor office kasi.

Bee when you get hold of the Kreg jig you will probably find (just like me) that quickie quickie projects will a new turn and level. 😉
