Hello guys! The door in our built-in cabinet broke. It has a large mirror that developed a large crack.

As you can see it split in two. The glass is glued to the door.

So I had to remove it and replace it with a new one.

Re: Repair a broken cabinet door

Time to cut the plywood to the dimension of the cabinet door.

Cut the plywood lengthwise.

I lay the old door side by side with the new one to ensure the measurement is exactly the same.

Then I cut the board crosswise using my short cs guide.

Pocket hole cut
I released the depth locking mechanism of my cs and slowly lowered it to make a pocket hole cut for the glass mirror.

As you can see most of my tools are red (Skil) ones. Finished the corners using the jigsaw.

Finished cutting the hole for the glass.

My 2nd router
I also have an Ozito router. Its cheap and very easy to control, although I don't know how durable this is.

I then cut the rabbet using 3/4 straight bit. Tama ba yung description ko?

Finished routing the recess that will hold the glass in place.

Here's the glass that will be placed on the new door.

Re: Repair a broken cabinet door

Test fit the glass. Looks ok naman. Some gaps in the corner but very minimal.

Scrap wood
Got these from a local lumber yard that cuts long pieces of palochina like wood. Mas matigas siya.

As you can see the thickness of the wood are uneven.

Cut muna to desired thickness.

Then cut again fort the desired width. I usually cut them oversized to make allowance for planing.

Finished rough cutting the "liston".

My Makita cms clone. Attached to my new baby. A miter saw stand.

Cut the pieces at 45 dec. angle

Re: Repair a broken cabinet door

Applied glue.

Then use a brad nailer. Very handy. I use to do this using hammer and nails only. The nails have a tendency to split the wood.

I start muna from the top and work my way around.

Finished edge banding the cabinet door.

Re: Repair a broken cabinet door

Sanded the excess wood trim until it is level with the plywood.

First time to use a block plane.Tama nga kayo guys. Nakaka relax. Lalo when you're using sharp ones.

Here is my mini router table. All are hand build including the aluminum router plate.

I have very limited decorative router bits. So rounder over bits for this project muna.

Re: Repair a broken cabinet door

looking good Willy, though I believe cutting the sides and top and joining the pieces using pocket hole jig would save you half the material you used. Your tools are almost if not complete already and you should be able to do what you want with them. One more thing, ang laki ng space mo.... :jump: workbench na siguro kasunod nito no? :secret:

Re: Repair a broken cabinet door

Used this center punch to attach the piano hinges.

Sanded lang and will attach a wooden handle. Ayaw na ni misis na lagyan ng anumang finish. Gusto daw nya ng natural color ng wood. And the smell will linger in our bedroom. So have to sand it thoroughly. After this time to install na. Well I hope you enjoyed my simple weekend project.
