Re: Show your Quickie Quickie Projects

The bit came from this Special Edition 1/2" shank set. Good set of bits for the price paid. I purchased mine thru amazon. Highly recommended at just a tad over 120 pesos average per bit.

When do one use this Round Nose bit specifically?

Re: Show your Quickie Quickie Projects

Bros... I already finished edge banding my plywood. Also used a block plane to square it up a bit more.

I am thing to put some profiles on the edges of the liston to take out the monotonous look. I don't have a trim router but have a regular router and some profile bits.

What bit is best to use and can I do it on the RT?

Thanks

Re: Show your Quickie Quickie Projects

Whoa Jay, thats a block plane ... you mean you actually use them? 😀

nice work brader, as for the profile on the edgeband, there is no limit to what router bit you want to use, you can round over, then use the round-nose or an ogee bit. try with scrap until you get the look that you like...

Re: Show your Quickie Quickie Projects

Bagong hasa blade pa ..... hehehhehe

Thanks Timb.

If possible I want something simple and will not damage the WIP that I have to repeat again the edge banding.

Sorry for the Newbie questions but better sure than sorry.

Can I use a hand held regular size router with a profile bit or best to do this on an RT?

Can I travel the router either direction so as not to chip the edges thus no need to use backer boards on the ends?

Which bit?

Thanks a lot bro.

Re: Show your Quickie Quickie Projects

you are not suppose to climb cut on the rt, meaning you can only go one direction. used a push block or a piece of wood that is as high or higer than your piece, that will prevent the blow-out...

So it's best to use the RT.

Re: Show your Quickie Quickie Projects

At times like this I wished I had a Bosch Trim Router or better yet I should have profiled the "liston" before I used it for edge banding .... huhuhu. It's difficult to balance the big edge banded plywood piece on the RT.

Ok na muna ito baka masira pa and kailangan na itong board asap. At least I got to know what the different profile bits I have can do while trying these on scraps.

Re: Show your Quickie Quickie Projects

Yeah looks like the chisel set is still attractive at that price considering the quality.

Re: Show your Quickie Quickie Projects

Yes, the Narex Chisels are great. Sharp out of the plastic bag :D... works as it should and very well built, the handles are bigger than what I am used to, but I like them better...
