Re: Show your Quickie Quickie Projects

Since curing time is of the essence and it would be covered with cloth, how about using brad or those small shoe nails?

Re: Show your Quickie Quickie Projects

The base is 3/4" inch plywood with dadoe to insert the 1/4" ply legs. Hmmm why not. I dadoed the base to 3/8+ inch so I can still shoot some brads if I'm careful.

Thanks Jarod I'll try that. I still need to make 2 more of these and want to finish quickly. I prefer to play around with the new Pullers I just got than with sawdust and glue for now.

By the way if you work on the English System then here's a good calculator for it. Just download and install the software on the bottom part of the screen.

Re: Show your Quickie Quickie Projects

Bros,

What's the better, easiest and quickest way to join these woods together. It's actually for a simple table for dirty kitchen use, nothing fancy. Will Kreg pocket holes be ok and strong enough? Wood is 1 3/8" x 2 3/8".

Thanks

Re: Show your Quickie Quickie Projects

as long as design has stretchers for it, pocket hole joinery + glue should be fine...

Thanks Timb. I'll see if I can get the right length screws to use.

I think I'll connect it this way. The upright one is the leg.

Re: Show your Quickie Quickie Projects

how long are the legs Jay? and how far apart... if the table is both short and small, no need for stretchers. but if the legs are apart more than 24" and taller than 16", you might need them for added support.

Timb they just want to use it to put a stove for cooking outside. The legs are 28" high and I reckon the top will be something like 46" x 24". Most probably they will want another layer on the bottom part also. If they were not in a hurry I would have had chance to practice mortise and tenon but they specifically said they don't want this to be an epic build and want it quickly ..... 🙂 .

Re: Show your Quickie Quickie Projects

well if it will have a shelf, then they become the stretchers, pocket hole joinery would be strong enough even without glue... 😀

No, better 😀

I hope I get much time so I can visit you often during the build. It would be good when I decide and build one for myself. Court is only 20 mins bike ride.

When do you plan to do this?
