Sharing the T-shirt silkscreen machine that I completed today.

It is a 4 color - 1 station printing machine, meaning it can complete a printing of a multi-colored printing job in one station without removing the t-shirt.

It will be my gift to a retiring staff/colleague or will be forced to retire soon due to arrivals of digital printing presses in the company that we both working for. A fitting gift from his boss.

Eric is a 57 yrs old veteran and has spent more than half of his life in the company. A widower and still the bread winner of the family with 7 sons, Eric has a family business to support his children and their families, T-shirt printing. When his wife died recently I saw their equipments for printing and I knew then that their styles and techniques won't be able to produce 1,000 t-shirts a day.

Last month I gave Eric a single color printing machine and the whole family was so exuberant about it. Eric told me that they were able to print 200 t-shirts (1 color) in less than 30 minutes.

Upon hearing the good news, I promised Eric to give him another one but this time more than what he expect. Last night I showed to the whole family the progress of the machine and everybody can't stop thanking me...my heart was melting.

Here are the works-in-finished:

the clamp...made of angle bars welded together by my neighbor free of charge but over one bottle of empe light, bago maubos ang bote tapos na trabaho.

I just used mostly left-over materials, here still without springs and the printing platform.

Re: Silkscreen Machine

Nice project bro. Made a similar one from plans I downloaded from the net. Your version is much easier to build. Any plans for a 4 color 4 station press in the future?

Thanks for sharing.

Re: Silkscreen Machine

thanks for the kind words rosy, vivafox, and willy.

@willy1467: wala pa plano for a 4-colors 4- stations printer as of this time medyo ambitious na yun at tsaka cguro pag marunong na din ako magwelding para mas durable na...pillow blocks na rin ang bearings at hinges nun.

and here's the [COLOR="Blue"]video of the fake demo.

Re: Silkscreen Machine

hey bro armand,

its been awhile..il will always remember your DIY belt sander! hehe

anyways, nagluluko ang phm site last time kaya hindi ko na ipost ang message ko.

alam mo super relate ako sa recent project mo..being a silk screen printer way back in college.

all of my screens were handcut film..too bad there was no time for me back then to learn the photoemulsion technique..sayang yung sa Tulco dati..

i wonder how you can teach me properly how to make one..

balak ko sana ituro sa mga walang trabaho sa amin sa province kesa magtambay sila.

thanks in advance.

Hi DocV, sa totoo lang wala rin akong actual experience sa silkscreen pero yung method and processes ay alam ko lahat dahil madalas ko itong nakikita. My entire printing career is on paper based printing using the conventional Offset machines and now gradually shifting to fully digital presses. I never tried my hands on t-shirt printing.

Aside from Tulco and M. Enriquez, meron pa isang supplier ng sikscreen materials na magandang source, JJ Virgo sa Recto malapit sa Divisoria kumpleto lahat like photoemulsion, inks, screen cloth, squeege, hardener, ready made frames and so on.

The other equipment needed for silkscreen is the exposure table, gawa lang ito sa small enclosure na may 4 flourescent lamps and 1/4" glass sa ibabaw.

having said all that i'm still willing to help you para sa mga kababayan mo.

ngayon ko lang nakita... only the beauty of the intention overshadows the beauty of the contraption
