Re: small space for a workshop
brad gawa ka na lang ng muna 2 sawhorse, then use 2x4's as platform so you can cut sheatgoods...or you can use your sheet as tops...since magstart ka palang pala muna gumamit ng powertoools, say cs...
build a couple of cs guide ( for safety ) long and short...actually i build three of of my preferred lengths.
with this set up, you can start building your projects at hindi ka manghihinayang magasgasan ang wb mo...
then start your wb build.:superhero:
stay safe , keep it cool at mabuhay ka !!!
Re: small space for a workshop
@ argus,
Hey there bro argus, your first wood woking project looks great, it may be simple but its very useful and your supposed to be next project of a workbench would look great also perhaps with some guidance or assistance with the wood workers here who have made great and good looking work benches too. Everything on that side is just fine with me, ayos yan, go go go.
My concern here is that do please when you do post a reply, please complete a word and stir away from using abbreviated words ala cell phone texting style, its not a rule here but I am just reiterating the admins request before for all members to do so for the mere reason that there are other foreign members who may not understand what you are saying if ever they get to read this thread, PHM community can also be read internationally. Pus of course we can easily read and understand the message being relayed, sayang naman kasi eh.
example :
I hop yu undrstnd w I,m syng, n being srcstc hir, jst ff d admin's dsre, 4 all membrs 2 b easly undrstd wen rplyng !!! sigh, :confused: ang hirap intindihin naman nito, this kind of reply is just ridiculous in terms of letter/word construction !!
I guess as a moderator it is my duty to sort of give some notification to members of the ADMIN's sort of policy, though not a rule here, no offense brad !
Peace and Thank you 🙂 :thanks:

Re: small space for a workshop
when I made my second wb, the top alone cast me around 5k on wood alone... the leg materials would be around 4k depending on thickness and another 1k for the plywood cabinet underneath plus all the slides and hardware I put in it....
a plywood wb like I showed previously cost me around 2.5k which includes the plywood, nails, sandpaper and the glue. takes a weekend to make if you have a circular saw and longer if you don't.
I believe the construction of my benches are here, just search for them....

@rosy
noted and thank you.i'm not a fun of "jejemon" infairness to those who like shorcut words in text.I seldom text.I preferred calls. :p
I'm really thankful because all woodworkers here are friendly and willing to help a novice like me.
@timber
sir, wb made of ply is indeed cheaper. I already read about the WIP of your ply project before I registered here and already finished reading all forums here in woodworking...:p
Really thankful....BTW I will purchase the circular saw tomorrow and will probably start my project by next week.. during my day off..
Do power planers important/necessary?i like to buy one, or I prioritize a power sander first...
Thank you!

Thank you!
a power planner is nice to have if you work mainly on rough solid wood. I would not recommend it for your use at this time. a good sander or ROS (random orbital sander) would be better to have imho. get a handplane... a no.5 handplane called a Jack would be a nice start instead of a power planner...

@timber
Sir timber thank you for the advice...i just went to ace hardware (las pinas zapote) earlier unfortunately I'm unable to enjoy the 20% discount yesterday..it supposedly 3 day sale..but now only selected items are on sale.now it's back to 10%...suddenly it comes to my mind to search in internet those stores have power tools on sale..I can buy other tools with the discount i will get. it's worth giving time to search or ask information that will take advantage those discounts and save money for other tools. Do you know sir where I can buy tools with lower prices or on sale? thank you

Re: small space for a workshop
Apologies Sir Timber.
My real name is Jason. I use Argus as screen name, because Argus (son of Arestor), builder of the ship Argo in the tale of the Argonauts where Jason (same name with me) used that ship to look for the Golden Fleece. (nice Greek mythology story :cool:)
I live now in an apartment in Las Pinas, near Zapote with my SWMBO almost a year. But before I lived in Taytay, Rizal. I'm 27 years old and work as computer/technical support in Makati. Just a month ago got interest in ww due to the urge feeling to make our apartment organized. I used to DIY repair our old apartment. There are so many things I need to do just to make things organize.
(a little of my childhood)
When I was in grade school, I was exposed to woodworking because our neighboorhood has furniture making. They are very noisy, and really lot of wood dust (kusot) where my mother always ask me to get used to fuel her cooking. Sometimes, i used to watch the wood workers and I remembered they didn't used power tools, mostly hand tools. Like for example, they used miter jig when cutting 45 -degree cut on lumber. But my interest wasn't there yet. It's really just a month ago when I realized I need to create a cabinet to put all our things in order. But I don't have any knowledge how to create one. Actually, I made a simple kitchen cabinet but it's really not a cabinet. It is poorly made. Without any knowledge, I rushed to hardware store and ask for plywood and lumber. I really don't know what to ask. I asked for price of 2x4 ply, and the store agent, was puzzled, she asked her boss, what I'm really looking for, he said that they don't have cut ply only whole which is 4x8. I felt so embarrassed and that's the starting point of my woodworking research. First, I familiarized myself with the different sizes of lumbers, ply and their types. I take advantage my time in office to read all about woodworking. I knew about joineries. I downloaded almost 36Gb of videos and pdf...all about ww...right now my heart and mind is in ww...but I know there'll be more and more hindrances along the way.i really appreciate any experiences you can share with me in order to motivate and encourage me and those who are starting in ww. Thank you so much.
Brader... welcome...
Are you still interested to pre-cut plywood? (2x4, 3x4,4x4 etc) You can go to Imus Cavite. Just 1 ride (abt 6km) from Zapote. HW name is Anayo. HW is just a few meters on your left right after Ziebart / Yellow Cab. Hindi ka aabot sa Imus Toll Bridge.
