Re: small space for a workshop

Thank you for advices/information sirs...definitely will visit festival mall...While waiting for Doc Violaine's CS, I tried to revised my workbench plan...

I also created cutlist for this using cutlist 4.1.4 plugin for Google SketchUp...

But, the cutlist layout plan is not maximize, so I used other free cutlist layout tool...

For the edging I will use 1x2 lumber, and will need 2x of 12 feet...

Other Materials:
(#8 gauge)
1" wood screw -- for bench top assembly
1-1/2" wood screw --- for shelf , panel, and solid edging assembly
2" wood screw -- for batten/apron assembly
3" deck screw --- for the legs/apron-stretcher and battens/top assembly
1-liter Wood Glue
4x -- adjustable footings
sand paper?
finishing?

Estimated cost:

2x - plywood --- 2000 php
2x - 1x2 lumber --- 400 php
other materials ---- 1100 php

Total = ~ 3500 php

Re: small space for a workshop

As per sir jonathan advice, I should make a sawhorse first for plywood cutting...While waiting for CS, maybe will try to make a sawhorse...my plan is a folding sawhorse...here's my sketch....

I'm using only 2x2 good lumber....is this sturdy enough to hold a whole plywood?

Re: small space for a workshop

A good pair of sawhorses IMO are ones that can at least be stacked up on top of each other for smaller storage footprint. Collapsible is better if workshop space is an issue.

I tried to revised my workbench plan...

Bro, suggestion lang for your workbench, you may or may not follow my bit of suggestion, since your table top measures a 60" X 20 " which for me IMHO is medyo makitid, why not make it into a 60" X 24" ( 5' x 2' ), you can use each side as a measuring tool plus probably saves on some measurement when you cut your 3/4" thick plywood/plyboard, basing on the measurement of a full sheet of 4' X 8' board. :victory:

With regards to its design, its very nice and looks so practical specially with those extra shelves underneath. :2thumbsup:

yes po..I agree with you..i have to make that way because of my limited space...less than 2 feet..~32 sq feet is the area of my workshop... less of a size ng whole plywood..sa harap na lng ako ng bahay magka-cut ng plywood...ganun po...:(

left side - laundry area
right side - my workshop..??? 🙁

Re: small space for a workshop

@bro rosy,

i think the 20 inches isnt thast far from 24 inches hehe...but yes the benchtop should be no less than 20 inches to be still a versatile assembly table and work table.

you definitely need a cs for making the french cleat! hehe

see you next week bro argus!

meantime, plan plan and plan to maximise your little space...make every space accountable for some tool hangers.

Re: small space for a workshop

Hello Master woodworkers,

I was recently a victim of theft by our alleged housemaid - unfortunately the money she stole was gone forever. I am short with cash now and my wb making is delayed. Because I need to buy some clamps...I just like to know if Panda, and/or tool store in Binondo, accept credit cards - preferably instalment? My palms are so itchy, eager to start woodworking.

Thank You!

Re: small space for a workshop

Bro argus, so sorry about that for being a victim of your own house help. Has the theft been proven and if so has she been reprimanded or brought behind bars. Hope you get the justice for that wrong doing, bad, very bad at all, you pay them their days work, provide food and sleeping quarters and yet steals from you.

Bro I sympathize with you.

Regarding Panda, maybe lets wait for more members who can give an insight on the matter. Perhaps you can send a PM to our admin, timber715, I think he can give you more of a concrete/definite answer.

Cheer up bro and good luck.

I don't think Panda accepts credit cards but I myself have not tried to ask.

Imagine if Panda will accept credit cards ...... what do you think guys?

Re: small space for a workshop

@rosy

unfortunately the thief wasn't punished even though her alibi weren't persuasive and believable and police were convinced she's the thief but still no evidences and she wasn't proven guilty. We paid her the total amount she worked for and drove her away. Justice wasn't on my side at all.:wah:

@sir Timber

sad...:cry2: maybe can still wait for coming 13th month...I will draft plans/sketches as I wait for moolah to be deposited on my atm..:2thumbsup:

thank you all...!!!!:thankyou:
