Re: "Spring Cleaning"
I was the one confused and even spread it, Willy!
Yes, I remember now our discussion. Lentrek was a compromise for Cislin and Brand S is not preferred.
Thanks for the clarification.

No worries Ding, I know for a fact that different users have different preferences based on a friend's testimony, a relative's experience and an experts advice. The most important thing is we have many basis for our own evaluation before we make a mistake of turning our wood into food instead of beautiful projects.:D
Re: "Spring Cleaning"
Interchanging 'antifreeze' and 'coolant' -- not erroneous in context of internal combustion engines. The terms refer to different functions but for engines, the heat transfer fluid does both functions. Ethylene glycol (and propylene glycol, less toxic if ingested alternative) when added to water simultaneously decreases the freezing point and increases the boiling point. In US, the product tends to be called antifreeze or antifreeze/coolant. Locally, I suppose the manufacturers dropped the term antifreeze for obvious reason.
IIRC, the government people (DOST FPRDI ?) updated their recommendations in their bamboo seminars/handouts. They used to be recommending Cislin (active ingredient deltamethrin) or Timbor as insecticide, and Farmay Plus or boric acid as fungicide. Now, for some reason, they are recommending Woodtec and Leadrite, respectively. Active ingredient in Woodtec is also deltamethrin at I think the same concentration (25 g/L ?) as Cislin.
Cislin available at Pycor for P2,915/L last I checked. Woodtec was P2,900/L and Leadrite was P2,590/L at HM Trading (the importer?). Also at Ace, though at higher price, and in 100 mL.
Have to admit though that at a dilution of 1:50-100 for Woodtec and Leadrite, engine antifreeze/coolant at ~P200/L may not necessarily be cheaper. Solignum (permethrin, etc.) may sound cheaper at ~P1,000/4L but comes out way more expensive per unit area as it is not designed to be diluted. (Correct me if wrong.) Just like those pre-mixed pre-diluted 'ready-to-use' antifreeze/coolants.
I wonder what those 'GREEN formulas' are. Boric acid perhaps...?
Saw 'non-toxic' insecticides with EcoSMART brand start to appear in mall stores last year, based on various plant oils. Not designed for wood treatment though.
Re: "Spring Cleaning"
so i guess everythng is settled now? hehe
thanks guys for the updated info.
so until this time... insecticides having the parent compound with different side chain formulations...pyrethrins now has become deltamethrins...
ok lets be on the watch for the most environmentally and human friendly wood preservative.
i must confess i still have a gallonful of the popular brand (S)...sssssssssssssssssssshhh.
i hope to swing by Willy's place sometime soon.
keep safe ya all!
