Re: Study Table

Bro Willy ... the boards look long. How did you cut the dadoes on the TS. Did you use the fence or a miter gauge? tks

Looking forward for the finishing part of the Wip. 🙂

Re: Study Table

another proud daughter in the making!

ganda ng project...very timely and functional for a student.

are you going to plug the pocket screw holes?

since the drawer fronts are made of nice looking pine wood, i guess you will apply clear finish.

dont skimp finishing the innards of this beautiful project...fungi is my enemy to give foul smelling cabinet drawers especially during this wet season.

salute!

Placed on top of the desk. Hindi ko pa siya screwed sa desk. Sa destination ko na siya i-assemble.
Finishing na lang and tapos na.

Beautiful!

Gawa ka ng isa pa, but instead of a shelf on the left, mirror. Dresser for SWMBO.

Same request din as V. Para hindi kami mahirapan sa pagkopya. 🙂

HEY Bro willy 1467,

Looking back at your past wip projects and this current one, no doubt in my mind that you really know what you are doing more so with the proper tools you have in hand you can do a lot more projects with it and plus the mere fact that you have the courage of doing the project from its infancy up to the finished output. Ang galing mo kaibigan, honestly speaking, ans sarap sundan at pag aralan ang mga wood WIPS ninyo and the likes of bro Armand, Jon, Violaine, Timber, Ryobi and others, sori I can't recall their name na.

Bro, siguro medyo ot ito, pananaw ko lang ito Willy kasi it just suddenly entered my mind,with your skills in wood working and bro Jonathan's skills also in woodworking, sana you can find time to bond together and make something very big using your skills, as a sideline for additional income, you can make simple furnitures and like what you are doing some study table or computer table or kitchen shelve and you can sell it or consign it to a furniture shops then wait and see ano ang magiging feedback or results. Malay mo dumami orders ninyo.

Bro Willy, this is what I learned from bro WillyFernando of Marikina, he gave us a little insight on the money generating side, he told us that with all the talent and skills that we posses whether in woodworking or metalworking, why not use it to generate income or monetary returns para hindi sayang ang mga power tools na binibili, sayang daw kung magiging pand DIY lang, the more money we get, the more good tools we can buy and improve more our skills and output. Bro ang insights ni bro WillyF ay napaka ganda and very very positive ang mga goals nya, it can be applied to every one kung gugustohin lang natin.

Bro Willy, pananaw o suggestion ko lang naman ito for you and bro jon, baka kasi maging isang reality o possible, eh mag neighbors lang naman kayo diba ? sayang yung business opportunity side, both of you might be able to do something big out of it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

CHEERS to the skillful woodworkers, :cheers: :clap:

Re: Study Table

@rosy
Thanks bro for the suggestion bro. Sometimes I've given it some thought para mabawi ko naman yun mga investments ko dito sa tool hoarding ko. But I feel may kulang pa ang skills ko. Happy pa naman ako sa mga projects ko for my loved ones. And It's beginning to affect my primary work dito sa business namin.

For a collaboration with Jon, that would be nice. Ang schedule namin ang problema. Sometimes gusto ko sana sumunod sa place ni WillyF but lagi conflict sa schedule ko.

@joey81, v
Would like to build a dresser for the SWMBO pang-suhol baga sa future tool purchase, but
problem is wala ng space sa room namin. Don't worry guys e-mail ko sa inyo yung plans pati cutting list. Kaya lang medyo nag deviate ako ng konti sa plan.
As for the costing compute ko pa. Post ko na lang pag natapos ko na ang finishing.

@timber
First time using these dado blades, I need more practice.

@jayl
I used the miter guage to push and the fence as the stopper. Post ko yung setup ko. Para mas claro.

Thanks to all who followed my wip. :thanks:

Re: Study Table

Continuation of my wip, medyo na delay due to bad weather

The owner requested for a cork board to be installed to place her notes and messages.

After sanding and wiping, I applied the wood stain. Boysen woodstain (maple) ang ginamit ko.

I should have used a bigger brush para mabilis.

Re: Study Table

hey willy,

umulan umaraw ka din ha!

nice documentation of your wips..

my favorite locally available wood stain is still Boysen ...except i lost interest with the maple hue decades back...btw where do you buy your nitrile gloves? they dont come cheap eh especially if they are made by popular brands like kimberly clark..

i only would like to comment on the drawer fronts..there is some grain mixed up..but otherwise it looks functional.

may i ask the brand of your drawer lock? we are flooded by cheap chiwanese and made in china Yale brand..

i am on a hunt for a fancy looking but secured form of drawer lock for ages

sana me Abloy hehehe

hoping the weather will turn bright these coming days for your last finishing touches.

Re: Study Table

I let the wood soak up the stain and waited for a couple of days to apply varnish. My original plan was to spray it with clear lacquer but due to the bad weather I opted for this instead. Worry ko kasi baka mamuti yung lacquer.

Here's the result after 1st coat of varnish diluted with paint thinner. Very thick ang valspar malagkit i-brush.

That's all for now have to apply a second and maybe a third coat. Will have to wait, it takes to long to dry in this weather. Hopefully I can finish this week, so that I can deliver it to her dorm. And finally join dun sa Bosch Contest.

Thanks for viewing!

Re: Study Table

@v
Yung nitrile gloves padala ng mother-in-law ko. Mahal pa la nito. Thanks for reminding me. Pwede naman re-use sa pag-paint. Worried kasi ako sa mga nababasa ko na health hazards due to frequent skin contact.

About the drawer fronts, first time to try joining wood kaya siguro ganito ang result hopefully next time I will get it right. Need to do practice more, para it will look like great.

I bought the drawer lock sa local hardware dito sa San Jose. Amerilok ang brand, mahirap maghanap ng quality brands dito.
Good luck on finding a fancy looking but secured form of drawer lock for ages. I you find an Abloy brand baka mas mahal pa yung lock sa nakalagay dun sa drawer.:D

Thanks, I always welcome your comments.
