Just want to share how i build our 8 seater dinning table well its holding up very well considering I built it in pure lumber. Start with a leg post and a leg template.

Then route a sliding dovetail for legs to connect, made a jig for accuracy.

Re: The Dinning Table Build

First router bit is a straight bit to define the boundaries

Tracing the template to a 8” lumber.

Making a dovetail grove with the used of a router table, same dovetail bit i used to the leg post.

Then cutting a 90deg to the leg.

Confirming it.

Cutting legs with a band saw.

Re: The Dinning Table Build

Bee I get it from a local wood worker with his home made lathe i don't have a lathe it cost me 2k including the acacia wood.

Back to the build now i'm ready to glue my counter top first cut with a biscuit about 8" apart.

Found a handy glue roller but not intended for gluing he,he,he

Re: The Dinning Table Build

Use a Number 20 biscuit.

I glue it in 3 parts for better alignment.

Used a circular saw to straighten the edges and belt sanding the top

Re: The Dinning Table Build

Now gluing the legs.

Making the stretchers.

Attaching the stretcher to the post leg were getting near to the finish line from this stage its like assembling a jigsaw puzzle.

Connecting the assemble legs to the counter top.

Re: The Dinning Table Build

Lots of sanding.

First attempt on finishing it I used an oil base stain and a poly, but I don’t like the effect the wood has spolting and very difficult to even out the color so my forum mate suggested to use lacquer with a alcohol base stain spray finish it works great.

Hi chisel,

Very nice build you got there. Where did you get your wood from? Same with rolly, we're curious about the biscuits too.
