Re: timber's second workbench
Hmmm...did you just forget to post the design or do you want us to guess what design it is?;). Newfangled?
BTW, when you mention wood dimensions (eg. 2x3) do you mean finished dimension or the "undersized" dimensions that lumberyards use? Just asking because I foresee a workbench in my future and would want it to be very stable so need to be sure re wood sizes. Thanks!
Re: timber's second workbench
Square dogholes this time and the distances seem much closer?..
Another workbench from the Master..with the sizes of the lumbers its gonna be very heavy and stable as well. Abangan..
Re: timber's second workbench
Wow, it seems that there is expansion going on 😀
i guess, lots of modifications and improvements are coming according to your needs compare from previous wb builds 🙂

Re: timber's second workbench
Wow the bench has started! How did you do the dog holes? Is that laminated or did you carve out each one?
Re: timber's second workbench
Looks like your mortise chisels got a good workout;)
got the dogholes done with a 5 degree slope...
Re: timber's second workbench
balarila, those are s4s lumber size from the yard. yes they are undersized... didn't post the design and measurements bec, there is none 😀 working as I go along...
Thanks Armand, the dogs are 3" apart, they look closer bec the dogs are a bit big.
Thanks Oz, no expansion, I just need a bench where I can handplane at ease...
Moji, those are cut with a router 😀 and the head portion with the mortise chisel... two piece chicken yan 😀
mrjason, lugging the materials and handplanning gave me more than a work-out... not much from the dogs

Re: timber's second workbench
Re round and square dog holes and as what timber and I had agreed, it will all just be a matter or preference.
Round:
- easier to bore a hole
- easier to create a dog using dowels
Square:
- more surface contact
- easier to create sloped dog
- easier to create a dog catch mechanism (spring)
Re: timber's second workbench
looking great on your 2nd wb build sir timber, good luck.
round dogs are good for odd shaped objects.
planning to put round dogholes on my wb also.
Re: timber's second workbench
Doc kamusta ka na? thank you for your vote of confidence, honestly, I do not have plans for this wb, so I still do not know the direction I am taking...
hehehe, Armand, don't be sad, my current wb with round dogs still work great as it should and has no issues, going to square dogs bec. I want to experience making it 😀 and just like Jarod mentioned it provides better clamping force due to its surface size.
Thanks Jonathan, you should post your wb sa post your wb thread...

Re: timber's second workbench
today, I cleaned the legs square and cut the tenons...
one had a check which I really did not notice until today...
then a guest woodworker arrived and helped me clean and glue the top pieces together.
the top now glued and waiting...
