Re: timber's second workbench
Doc, those were done on the ts. while it easier to cut them on the scms, I needed the accuracy of getting them to the correct width and depth which I find easier on the ts.
oh my..i really thought they were made from the scms! why not dado blades then?

I find it easier to set the regular blades for the mortise dimensions (depth and width) since the tenons were cut ahead of time.

day 5 Update: (camera phone pics lang today)
rounded over and sanded the leg and feet parts then started to glue up... then I started the mortises for the stretchers...

Had another all star guest kaya lang no picture... thank you Bigfoot for the hand, made things easier.

Taga hawak lang ako. I went there to get help for my starting WIP, thanks. I thought you were leaving the stretcher mortise with a shallow depth lang. Sinipag ka din pala, as usual.

Dumb mistakes will always be dumb mistakes, unless . . . . you learn from it, and then it will be learning experience.

Re: timber's second workbench

being a Sunday and having nothing to do at home is just unbearable... might as well give the front vise a bath before it moves to the shop...

cleaner than the day I got it... πŸ˜€

it will get some grease once installation is done....

thanks Joey, I'm not really in a different level (yet) but raising the bar is something we should strive for. Aspiring to be a carpenter is not bad, but if you can aim a bit higher it certainly is better...

must you do something, do it better. making a wb is a great way of practicing our craft, just like badminton or golf, you can read and learn everything including the perfect stroke, unfortunately without practice it doesn't become a skill, only knowledge πŸ˜‰

what sharpening stone? the only one I remember selling is the reddish ones...

btw, the first wb I built took me two months to make. taking an hour or two whenever I can. It gave me time to ask what I needed to know and read articles associated with the build. I suggest you start on one, build what you can with what you have. I use to buy wood two pieces at a time since that is what my budget allowed me, but that isnt much of an issue in your case

What is this Hafele?

I keep reading it in threads. Is this the same company that makes those hinges, brackets, and drawer runners? Where is this?

i always believe (in my experience) that when you are itching to do something, you can always find time for it...but if you are not being consumed by the thought of it then it will always be at the end of the list.

what can be intimidating perhaps is when you do not have enough pipe clamps to make the 2x3 laminations..but...

a torsion box wb i believe is considerably rigid and stable as well.

as they say...you need to build a wb before you do some serious woodworking.

but i cannot simply agree on that last statement on all counts...hehe

but looking back..that should be the right path that i should have taken first.
