three weeks with turtle pace speed, still not finished is this tool cabinet...it used to be a three column window and decided to convert it to a tool cabinet since i wanted at least all of my hand tools visible to me..the window jamb was painted red (Davies red elastomeric roof paint) and the boards, 3/4 marine ply puttied with RJ acrylic putty (2x to make it smooth) and painted with Davies white semi gloss elastomeric paint (also twice)...the third column will house the measuring tools, the middle probably cutting tools (planes and chisels and handsaws) and the first column perhaps make shelvings for what nots..any suggestions?

i hanged the water levels and carpenters square using a 3/8" metal (zinc coated) dowels i got elsewhere and inserted them to the 3/4 marine ply 1/2" deep..they are snug and had to hit them twice with a claw hammer to sink.

when filled up i will make the doors perhaps with sandwiched glass.

but i must stop working today on this project coz i am still an unfinished project for my doctor..hehe..today is my check up and will see the results of the latest mri scan. wish me luck!

Nagiging notorious ka yata sa pag-post sa maling location. Dati yung saw sa air compressor 😉

Looks like a neat showcase for tools and stuff.
Magkano yung acrylic putty? Is it suitable for a ping-pong table surface?

Good luck sa checkup, Doc! Have you tried the "Japanese" MRI yet? :p

Those power outlets are spaced just right. Will help manage power tools cable clutter on the workbench.

Re: tool cabinet

@jarod,

thanks bro.latest scan result isnt promising but isnt bad either.surgeon still tinkering on besieging the enemy..and my enemy is her knife.:eek:

nothing fancy for the tool holder...i bought these 3/8" zinc coated metal dowels from a surplus shop.

tie wrap wrapped tightly around the bit (sorry got no 3/8" drill stop collar)

drilled a hole on a laminate floor excess for a clean entry into the 3/4" ply.

Re: tool cabinet

@V

I love the tie wrap drill depth stop. Much better than the masking tape method I'm currently using. LOL 🙂

Re: tool cabinet

I think having the masking tape would be a good idea so you'd know if the tie wrap had moved.

Re: tool cabinet

how about putting masking tape and a tie wrap at the same time? 😮

Re: tool cabinet

the tie wrap is enough..very tight and very visible. you try it..no gummy mess like the masking tape..i tried also before the carpenters masking tape which is colored blue but the tie wrap is superior if you dont have the drill stop collar.
