They power requirement for Routers are much higher than lighting. You will burn the circuit and expose yourself to risk. There are routers with speed adjustments included in their design. It might turn out cheaper for the TS to buy a cheap second hand or surplus model if he can't find 220V controllers. If he intends to use it for heavy and continuous use then a brand new speed adjustable unit should be his target.
