Hi Guys,
I am new here. Im planning to design storage boxes made of plywood/mdf, paint it and put vinyl stickers on it, my questions below for those who can help me out.
- what kind of wood is okay for toy boxes?
- what primer and paint to use safe for children and where vinyl will stick on
- what to cover the vinyl to protect it?
- where can I find good/cheap hinges for the boxes?
Really appreciate the help in advance, suggestions is also welcome.

So you mean VINYL Stickers, not VINYK.
I would recommend using plywood for your toy boxes. It is much easier to work with and readily available at your nearest hardware store. If you want to cover the whole box with VINYL sticker then you don't need to put primer and paint. In my DIY speaker projects I sprayed polyurethane varnish on the VINYL sticker to protect it from scratches and to seal the seams.
[COLOR="Blue"]Speaker 1 - (from my old component speakers) marine plywood with vinyl sticker
[COLOR="Blue"]Speaker 2 - MDF board with vinyl sticker.
[COLOR="blue"]Speaker 3 - marine plywood with vinyl sticker and polyurethane varnish.

Hey Armand, thanks for the tip and yes i mean vinyl stickers, so theres no other way to put vinyl stickers on painted plywood and protect the stickers? I will try to make one using your tips.
