I will be gluing formica to an mdf. I read online than contact cement is best.

Beside Rugby.. are there other options?

Follow-up question- how well does Rakol stick, compared to rugby?

If you will use contact cement, Rugby brand is the most expensive (750/gal). Cheaper ones are Multibond & Do all (550/gal). I've tried these 3. Rugby & Multibond are about the same, while Do-All doesn't stick well.

Bought Rakol from wilcon. you can also find a roller applicator for it there.

Rugby vs Rakol...hmmmm...

I really cant say which is better but I think Rakol holds well too. Maybe it's on the matter of how you apply it and the ease of usage and application (also drying).

oh Wilcon.. hehe malapit ako diyan 🙂

Rakol would seem more enticing to me since i dont have to slap it on two sides and wait for 15 minutes then stick the joining parts and the you are doomed if you stuck them wrong 🙂

Re: what do you guys use to glue formica?

Actually that's one advantage of Rakol. I once slapped a laminate unevenly (size is about 20" x 60") but i was able to peel it and slap it back again. No problem at all. Im pretty sure we cant do that with rugby.

Rakol actually is intended for laminates and wood joining. I discovered it when I when to Worldbx or Philconstruct ata a few years back.

OT: does anyone of you here conducts workshops or clinics on wood working? (or kahit makinood lang ako sa shop nyo) I really want to focus on the hobby. Still on the process of collecting tools and building my mini workshop (space constraint kasi).

Salamat mga manong at mga kuya!

more people to the hobby!

Woodworking workshop and clinics... I'll let Timber answer that. Best place for you to start is to join the seminar(s) . right now there is an upcoming Bosch seminar in mall of asia. And a Boysen seminar too and hopefully Hafele seminar (Hafele is a supplier and maker of screws , fasteners , accessories and hardwares for cabinet making and etc.)

When you join you get to interact with fellow hobbyist and thats where alot of learning occurs.

thanks for the info sir!

Actually I've been doing small projects na on modular cabinetries but nothing really in terms of woodworking and craftmanship. I want to learn more of it.

Hopefully i can attend the seminars you mentioned.

Thanks again!
