The seller told me it's a young kamagong but I'm not sure with it. What wood is this? I hope someone can help me. Thank you.

I cannot say with certainty if that stash of wood is kamagong or not...the usual kamagong that is mature is ebony black...

Re: What wood is this?
At first I thougth its Molave because of the yellowish color..but balarila's link confirms its Dao.

Re: What wood is this?
Definitely not Kamagong. It's a lot closer to Ding's Dao but nowadays its hard to tell from w/c tree this wood came from. They are now cutting fruit bearing trees like Santol, Manga and even Durian. Before, we use to see a lot of Acacia, Balayong and Molave but more recently the fruit trees. :sob::chop:

Sana may maka help..
Re: What wood is this?
For me, Dao and Kamagong have equal desirability. My dao table came out wonderful. The grain is graceful and overall tone is warm. I also work with kamagong and it comes out really smooth even with just oil; very close grained.
Plan on doing something beautiful with that Dao.
