Re: willy's project

Card catalog shelve . The shelve is made out of 3/4 plyboard. It will have 30 small boxes (6 columns by 5 rows). The shelve is 8" deep.

The middle vertical members of the shelves, dado jointed. Sorry no pics while I was cutting the grooves on the ts.

The boxes made from 1/2" plywood on four sides while the bottom is 1/4" plywood. No complicated joints, just buttjointed glued and put a couple of brad nails. Fit all the boxes and ready to attach false front panel.

Here's one with the false front installed. To ensure the boxes are perfectly aligned, I attached a piece of scrap plywood one row at a time.

Re: willy's project

A closer look at the false front panel. Used a 3/8" round over bit to round all corners on the router table.
Predrilled the center to secure panel with a screw while the glue dries. This will also serve as the entry hole for the screw of the handle.

With the handle temporarily installed

Then cut to 2' and 6' lenght.

Re: willy's project

Here are the legs from 2"x 4" pine. I plan to imbed the frame to the legs so I cut square notches. This will aslo add extra strenght to the legs. This was done on the tables saw installed with a dado blade.

Dry fit before installing

Re: willy's project

Here's the bed with the legs installed. I used 4 screws per leg to secure the legs after gluing.
I hope this will be enough. This beds are intended for small children up to teenagers. I'll try it out when completed to see if it can carry my weight.

That's all for now Happy New Year.
