Re: wood adhesive

@ spykersetter,

Bro aside from Elmer's glue, or carpenter's glue, have you tried using PIONEER PRO Power Bond, a construction adhesive for wood, concrete, cement boards, metals, ceramic, masonry and glass.

Price is about 150 pesos / 300 ml.

CIGWELD Weldskill 250 amp Mig Welder
AHP Alpha-TIG 200X welder
HITRONIC 300 Amp DC Inverter IGBT Welder
YAMATO 300 amp AC Stick Welder
YAMATO 200 amp DC Inverter IGBT Welder
DeWALT Chopsaw
HOBART and ESAB Welding Helmets
cloned STIHLs
MS 044 chainsaw
MS 070 chainsaw

Re: wood adhesive

How do you plan to use the glue? Will you be using it between joineries, for gluing panels face to face, spot gluing, or how?

Ah, so you're jointing them to make 8" wide shelves. The strain won't be on the side to side joints then. For that purpose, the glue won't make a big strength difference: a butt joint is a butt joint. I imagine you'll be using the shelf supports to fix the boards together.

IMHO i'd avoid an epoxy. You're main concern will be planing/sanding the jointed shelf flat, and you don't want hard glue protruding from the joints. They may end up proud, and might even nick your planer 🙁 After clamping the joint (or fastening them together), I suggest gettng a wet rag and rubbing off all traces of glue, even to the point of removing a milimeter of glue from the joint. That way, you can sand the board flat without having the glue stick out.

Re: wood adhesive

+1 since using the boards as shelf won't put much pressure between the joints, wood glue wold suffice. After clamping, wipe any glue squeeze out with a damp rag.

Re: wood adhesive

joining side to side grain of the wood provides a very strong joint. I still haven't had one fail on the glue joint using this method. I use Elmers and titebond in my works.

Re: wood adhesive

Anyone know where I can get Elmer's Carpenter's Glue? Can't seem to find them nowadays.

Anyone know where I can get them by the gallon?

Re: wood adhesive

Almost wala na din, got a few smal bottles from Ace-ypermart Makati a week back. There was 1 bottle left. Try asking Ace if they can get from other branches.

Dumb mistakes will always be dumb mistakes, unless . . . . you learn from it, and then it will be learning experience.

Sta Lucia mall)

P1,600 if my memory serves me right.

I get mine at Times Office Supply in Binondo but what I got is the last one in the store and I got info that they will stop importing the gallon sizes... I see regular sized ones sa Ace often too................. :painting:

You're right. P1,600 is the paper cutter that I bought. But its too small to be a gallon. 1.5 liters, maybe?

Yes, I had someone call Times. They said they don't carry the product.
