Re: Wood Cutter or Wood Cutting Service
"A sash window or hung sash window is made of one or more movable panels or "sashes" that form a frame to hold panes of glass"

Re: Wood Cutter or Wood Cutting Service
I am guessing that...
the term refers to the sash in traditional Filipino-Spanish (bahay na bato) architecture, which was the horizontally sliding window panel made of wood and capiz;
hardly anyone makes windows this way anymore;
the term stuck even though 'sash factories' nowadays make almost everything (doors, jambs, cabinets, furniture) except wooden windows let alone traditional sashes.
Can anyone confirm?

Re: Wood Cutter or Wood Cutting Service
yun pala english nung "hamba" ... kaya pala majority ng sash and furniture eh yung nakadisplay talagay eh yung "hamba" nga hehehehe
maraming salamat po... now I know...
"We make furnitures and antiques." <- now I know even more.....
^ I believe sashes are the "hamba" or the wood that you fit into the wall where the door goes. Yung border. Maybe because it's so big that a maker will have to have a tablesaw and jointer (often a home-made one.)
Fwiw, there's a signage in the tagaytay area that says: "We make furnitures and antiques." hehehe 😉 😉
Re: Wood Cutter or Wood Cutting Service
pinto = door
pintuan/hamba = door jamb
