I have ¼” diameter T bolts but the problem is I don’t have knobs, don’t have the budget na to buy knobs at rockler so decided to make my own. Since I have the lathe might as well fabricate wooden knobs.

Start with 1 ½” x 1 ½” square wood stock drilled 3/8” hole at the exact center.

For this knot coupling to be inserted.

My first attempt I used T Knot but the problem with it is its very hard to center on the hole.

After applying CA to the bolt I made a face plate with a ¼” bolt for the stock to attach.

Re: Wooden Jigs Knobs

Rounding the square stock.

And here where I stop think this shape is perfect.

Then apply finish before I remove it to the lathe.

Finish all six knobs but not satisfied with the shape because it tends to resemblance drawer knob.

Re: Wooden Jigs Knobs

So decided to put groves on the outer sides for fingers to hold on and it made me justify the installation of the miter slot on the router table because I’m gonna need it to build the jig.

Start with wood screw to the miter gauge and drill ¼” hole for the bolt to be screw it will act to hold the knobs in place, notice that the bolt is in the “0” mark of the router plate to establish the center of the router bit.

Then attach my firs knob.

With a ½ cove bit I slowly run the stock to form a star like pattern.

Then slightly adjust the bit to deepen the grove.

Finished all six knobs. And complement to my shop made feather board.

Re: Wooden Jigs Knobs

Save some money there and kinda fun to build.

Of course I can make a five lobe knob but the degree of rotation is kinda difficult since this is my first try I will settle on a 6 lobe knob.
