i have been requested by a friend to make something like that

I will be making one out of teak, unfortunately it wont be solid since my teaks are 2.5 inch wide and rough cut pa.

I will get to use some water proof wood glue this time. I will also smother it in linseed oil.

will post pics tomorrow when i start on it 🙂

i realized i typed the title wrong 🙁

Re: wooden sopa dish

two pieces of teak prepared to size and one T&G bit... this thing is expensive. I relly suck at using a strigt bit for doung T&G so i decided to invest in this one

the only EZ cut bit thats not green ive seen so far.

i know its high time i get a proper adjustable fence for my router table !! hehe

tongue came out smooth

Re: wooden sopa dish

disassembly

it did not come with instructions but the assembly is intuitive. However i needed to add an extra nit at the top. This is because when i took out one of the cutting bits it left a huge space near the top. Hence it has this gap between the thread that the nut screws on and the bearing. So an oversized nut was used as spacer.

The fit is around 1.5mm off.... i didnt bother checking why. My stock mustve been not that square. since i didnt fiddle the height of the router. Only the bit assembly

this smells like window sealant. it has a very acidic aroma. Very different from white glue. Bond real well though and dont need a tight fit.

sanded the assembly so now to making the grooves

Re: wooden sopa dish

Ben, the t&g router bit doesn't need to be disassembled. just lower the bit to create the groove. it seems that it is designed for 3/4" material, so set both heights to cut at that length. disassembling the bit might give you fit problems in the future....

nice golden brown when dabbed with linseed or exposed to moisture. Before it looked a drab gray
