I made this wooden warding tray more than two years ago for our med techs who carry with them tools and materials for blood extraction. Joinery is dovetail as it proved to be the strongest and of course beautiful in all respect. But i was shortsighted to reinforce the side handles with glue and just pinned two brad nails here and there. Well after about 2 years of usage, the handles would want to break off. So I decided to fix it finally.
I will put two screws for an easy fix minus the hassle of making a shallow groove plus glue and clamps. I marked the two locations for the screws.
And i thought of using this adjustable countersink bits (i got two sets of these and willing to part with the second).

i will be using a 3/4" gypsum screws and so i adjusted the countersinks.
Chuck the bit to my trusty dill
And drill away!
Before putting the screws, i clamped the side handles to the tray body.

it would be an overkill if i use a drill to drive these 3/4" long screws. I still miss manual handwork btw and this is one of them. But repetitive injuries do happen and it will haunt you later as a lingering arthritis.
and that is it.
This quickie repair is trivial to most but this is the only woodwork that i can do at the moment after having been operated in the belly. the fire of woodworking still lives on me and DIY thinking is the driving power to motivate me to heal fast and i hope PHM will still live on for the longest time. There are plenty of information in this site and members are always willing to share their experience and expertise. More power to PHM!!!
