Re: Work In Progress (workbench build)
what you need Doc V is the dado blades... 😉
Randy, the finger joints are more forgiving to make than the dovetails, but the dovetail joint is the better option as long as you do it yourself :p...

Re: Work In Progress (workbench build)
i agree! with seasonal changes, i hate to see the fingers protruding.
with dovetails, it is fixed...kaya mo yan randy! 😉
below is a pic of my front vise with the "lips"..i should have buried the rear lip so that the stock will be flat against the apron..see the white arrow for that potential space...that i said i regret.

Re: Work In Progress (workbench build)
I have the same dilemma too on my vice, that is why I wanted to replace the top for a long time already, plus work on the tail vice some more... doc V, got the build pics for the tail vice?

Re: Work In Progress (workbench build)
i reformatted the harddrive and transferred all old data in my portable hdd...now i cant find the proprietary usb cable...there i kept the pics of the tail vise installation.

anyhow should i be able to open the hdd then i will post them very soon.
see you next week bro for my stuff!
i am here in nueva ecija pa kasi.

Hi jonathanscruz68, the back saw is a Stanley, I got it at To Suy Hardware last month. They have a few left. The marking gauge I bought from timber himself. Good luck on your project Sir!
Re: Work In Progress (workbench build)
what happened to randy's workbench?
yesterday was a great day for me as i was not hurting and did some modifications of my wb.
dismantled and removed the "well" so to speak and made it narrower by 6 inches..my mistake of making a 28 inches deep workbench eating some precious space in my small home woodshop.
since the sides have been treated with penetrating oil and edges routered, i cut about 1/4" to refresh the wood for glue using the cs.
and later did some powerplaning and sanding to meet the two sides flush together...
elmers carpenters glue and lots of bar clamps are all i need for this task..
will remove the clamps after the holidays and see what i can do to the support frame..id like to put the 2012NB underneath and home it there.will figure out later.
let me thank the Lord again for the strength and patience.

Doc V.,
Nice pictures! Shallow DOF shots. I sense large aperture lenses. 1.2, 1.8, 2.?
Moji seems to have DSLR as well. DOF is good.
This group has surely elevated the standards of pinoy woodworking. Tools, craftsmanship, technique and photography. The WIPS can compete with US sites now. Thanks to timber for his works and the patience to gather this bunch!

recently sold the 18-200VRII 3.5-5.6 nikkor..simply not satisfied..prime lens indeed is what i really want say the 85mm nikkor 1.4G...but is not locally available.
what is left for my use is the 60mm 2.8 micro nikkor..both suits my work in the lab for photographing surgical specimens and of course the wips here.
since you mentioned it...i will try to achieve presentable shots in the future.
thanks btw.;)

Thanks but all my shots were taken with a point and shoot cam. Walang budget pang DSLR eh.
Doc,
Did you use special lighting for your pics? Buhay na buhay yung itsura.

Wow, 85mm 1.4 G!!! Even without VR, reviews says it's a great FX lens! But the 60.. micro is no downer, continuously loved by marcro photographers after the 105mm.
Pa-shoot pagdating ng 85mm 1.4 mo Dokie ha!!! 😀

available light lang po...most of the time available light lang and disabling the flash if the sensor reads low light and mount it on a tripod.

Wishful thinking lang sa lens na yan muna..medyo madugo kasi presyo pero da best siya pang portrait shot sa mga gwapings sa next eb sana! 😉
