Hello guys! Medyo matagal ako hindi nakapag post dito. Well anyway, I'd like to share my workbench made from reclaimed wood from a recent renovation project I did for my mother-in-law's house. Sorry hindi masyado detailed yung post ko. Sorry guys hindi siya kagandahan.

A view from the side where I attached my vise.

Here is the base already assembled. With the help of my Kregg Pockethole Jig, I used gypsum board screws to assemble the parts.

Re: Workbench from reclaimed wood

The top is made of 3/4" plywood. Naka screw lang siya pati yung edges so that I can easily replace it when it's worn out. The top will be subjected to a lot of abuse.

The edge of my workbench is made up of 2 x 2 on three sides to accomodate my vice. I forgot what it's called but it can be placed anywhere on my table.

It's sturdy. My son & I stood on top of this table. Nakaya naman kami.

Well guys, I hope you like my simple workbench. I will post other pictures of my workbench in action.

Re: Workbench from reclaimed wood

Is that Yakal? If so, that'll be pretty heavy and sturdy.

I like your router.

That's one mean looking vise. What is it?

Sorry I don't know what kind of wood it is. It used to be the rafter of my mother-in-law's terrace. Dark ang shade nung ibang kahoy after I cut and planed it. Heto yung mga pinagputulan ko. It was too twisted and others have started to rot.

As for the Skil router ok naman gamitin. It illuminates what I'm routing and well within my budget.

Re: Workbench from reclaimed wood

@balarila & rosy
Vice Master siya from JML. I purchased it a couple of years ago sa Ace Hardware sa SM Marilao. I think it was on sale for P1,500. Nice tool para kang may extra pair of hands. Although not as sturdy as a wood vice.

It has a quick release mechanism and it has several configuration

Re: Workbench from reclaimed wood

Heto pa other pics niya

The size of the material that I can clamp is only limited to the length of my table.

I use it when I'm planning (power or hand).

Kahit nakatayo pwede.

@ will1467, @balarila,

The wood in the pics posted looks familiar to me, I think it is GUIJO, but correct mE if I'm wrong kasi the wood grain ( haspe ) that I see is very similar to the window jambs that I dismantled years ago because malikot ang kahoy na yan. Yes the wood is very tough and very nice to finish but it does twists a lot and is also prone to warping or bow.

I guess this kind of wood needs to be totally dried and seasoned before using for furnitures.
The wooden jamb that I dismantled years ago has just been transformed into a large wooden saw horse or work bench. HEHEHEHE, LOL LOL
