Yakal question

Someone is selling me a 2"x12"x12' piece of yakal. Around 1K yata ang price if I remember correctly.

I don't know what to do with it yet. Maybe a dining table or kitchen counter top.

Bopols pa ako sa kahoy, so I need to know more before I decide whether to buy it or not.

1. From what I've seen and read on the net, yakal is light colored (on the yellow side). This does not match the motif of our house. Does stains penetrate this hard wood? Our desired color is like timb's conference table.

2. Can portable tools (circular saw, plunge router) be used work this wood? Hindi kaya mag kick-back yung circ saw sa tigas ng kahoy? Or pumurol agad yung router bits?

3. Durability. Can it take the abuse as a kitchen counter top? And a sink will be installed in it. Will it warp if its frequently exposed to moisture?

Pasensya na, daming tanong. :p

TIA!

[COLOR="Red"]Yes, you can stain yakal to any color/shade you want.
2. Can portable tools (circular saw, plunge router) be used work this wood? Hindi kaya mag kick-back yung circ saw sa tigas ng kahoy? Or pumurol agad yung router bits?[COLOR="Red"]Yes, portable power tools can easily cut yakal, its not that hard of a wood naman.

3. Durability. Can it take the abuse as a kitchen counter top? And a sink will be installed in it. Will it warp if its frequently exposed to moisture?[COLOR="Red"]Yakal is good exposed to moisture, actually its a good outdoor decking wood. and for the size and price that they are selling it OK na yun, specially if its Kiln dry or old wood

Pasensya na, daming tanong.
