Guys, what do you think about the 6" Benchtop Jointer by Milton

has anyone had experience with this brand? are they any good?

the shop owner is willing to part with it for 10k, is the price ok?

im not sure if the knives are compatible with other brands

The others maybe having a rest day since you posted this on a Sunday. Let's try to wait if some has ideas or suggestions. Sunday is also the actual work day for some so it's a busy day.

About the Milton brand, others might not be aware of the brand but if you have a sample pic maybe others may recall visually.

I guess that about sums it up. A brand unknown leaves you clueless as to it's worthiness, performance wise and price. I suggest you make your purchase w/ a local dealer that can give warranty and after sales service. Try ELEKTRO WERK, INC. in Cubao or GOLDEN BELL in A. Bonifacio near La Loma. They have Taiwan and China made machineries that may fit your budget.

@jarod & willy
thanks guys

went back to the store but the shop owner won't allow me to take pictures, hehe
i found a similar jointer in looks and size, Milton has gray paint
http://www.amazon.com/Grizzly-G0612-24-22-Bench-Jointer/dp/B000M63036

the Milton jointer has the same design for the safety guard as this one
must be a China OEM for Grizzly? i dunno

do we have a member who has/uses a jointer?

I didn't realize it was that small, might be too expensive for the price. Beebeenator (which is kinda Missing-In-Action) own a jointer similar to that not along ago.

Re: 6" Milton Jointer

heheh yeah iam pretty much MIA these days.... work and tired

anyways i would advice AGAINST a small jointer. It defeats the purpose of having a jointer to start with. for a jointer that only has 28", you can probably joint a maximum of well... very short maybe 40" if you are lucky. When i say lucky VERY LUCKY

Next thing to look for in a jointer (as with any tools) is adjustability. My small jointer that looked like that could only have its depth of bed adjustment. it DOES NOT HAVE the co-planer adjustment to make sure the infeed and out feed is co-planer.

And these cheaper tools NEVER come out properly adjusted to start with

Timber and Moji TRIED to fix my jointer after Timber offered me a very good trade (ako yata ang nakinabang eh ehehhe) but they gave up and another forumer got the jointer. Though last i heard the fellow forumer was finally able to get the beds coplanar, but after a visit to the machine shop i believe

[COLOR="Red"]My advice, save up on a good jointer. IF you have a table saw, you can jig up some pretty good jigs to do jointing on it that can handle lengths longer than that small jointer

Cheers 🙂
