Re: all about tablesaws

@ARMAND,

Bro, he he he he sana magkatotoo sa GTS 10, depend also on the availability of funds, I might end up eating butong pakwan for my sustainance for five years para mapunuan ko presyo ng TS. May MIG pa akong pag iipunan. :p LOL

Bro mahirap makipag sapalaran sa DIY TS, I'm not an engineer nor a mechanic, dadaanin ko nalang sana sa lakas ng loob, mahirap nang magka aksidente at maputulan ng body parts. 🙁 😮

Pards, buhay ko kasi mga kamay ko plus mga mata.

@ sir TIMBS,

Have any idea on how much is one GTS 10 sa PANDA ? Hindi yata nabanggit ni sir Golden presyo at kung available na sa market.

Thanks in advance. :thanks:

Re: all about tablesaws

Had a talk with Edward sa Panda, they're bringing in the GTS10, not sure if available already. As for the price, he says his brother is in charge of the price. I was in a hurry so I was not able to inquire further.

Re: all about tablesaws

a couple of weeks ago, i called up sir edward of panda about the gts 10,
told me to call sir phillip of panda araneta
and the latter told me that the bosch gts 10 ay hindi pa available sa kanila
but he told me that they have ordered or reserved 2 pcs of the ts sa bosch
pag may um-order tsaka pa lang nila kukunin sa bosch yung ts...
hindi pa sila makapag lagay ng stock sa showroom nila or store because of the price.

approximate price raw muna 30k + ...wala pa silang fixed price...

sir phillip says, he'll contact me if there are some development...
wala pa ako balita til now...

Re: all about tablesaws

any review on the gts 10?
i believe someone got a hand of the demo unit ts...
and i believe many will benefit for the reviews, as well as the one who have the unit...
pleae inform us about the very basic capabilities of a portable ts ( the gts 10 )
like ...
the power...

it's trueness..

the fence... ( i got the hold of the fence when we have the eb, and fence seems stable and solid ) in short, i like the fence...

fine tuning...if it is easy to fine tune the ts...

zero clearance insert... especially shopmade zci...

dado blades....

and many more....

sa hirap ng buhay, mahirap maglabas ng 30+ mil ngayon hehehehe...
and no compare to 4100, cause nothing beats the 4100, it is the best in it' class...
who knows, if the gts 10 is the best here in the phil,
baka hindi mapunan ng bosch and linya ng orders...
thanks and mabuhay ang PHM...

Re: all about tablesaws

But... if the GTS-10 sels locally for 30K+, doesn't it make more sense to just import the 4100 from the US?

The 4100 with stand now sells for $580 at Amazon. Lets say $120 for shipping to Pinas. That is approximately 30K. Less 2.5K if you buy the one without a stand.

Plus another 4K for the 100V transformer but you can argue that this is not exclusively for the 4100.

Re: all about tablesaws

The GTS10 is similar to the 4100 in almost evry way except the riving knife/blade guard. It's hard to make an objective assesment since the unit I'm testing has a DULL blade (calling golden!).

[COLOR="Red"]My reviews is of a unit with a very dull blade.

It cuts square and adjustment is easy, I can cut small and thin stocks slowly. Results is pretty square. It also ok with miter cuts.

The riving knife/splitter is integrated to the blade guard, thus you cannot use dado blades, non-through cuts or crosscut sled with this unit in its present setup.

An option would be, http://www.garymkatz.com/ToolReviews/riving_knife.html . Since it's not my unit YET, I have no intention of doing the mod.

So GTS10 vs 4100
220V vs 110V
Price: GTS10 maybe a little cheaper vs 4100 landed
Main drawback for GTS10 will be the riving knife/blade guard/anit kickback pawl setup, unless you're willing to go thru the modification route.

Dumb mistakes will always be dumb mistakes, unless . . . . you learn from it, and then it will be learning experience.

So Masters, what would be the better choice when it comes to price and specs since quality is the same. GTS 10 or 4100?

First confirm if you can ship the 4100 at that price ($120 is very cheap, got mine for almost twice that price) Second, the price of the gts10 I believe does not include the gravity rise stand (this needs confirmation as I know price is for the ts alone).
So what are we comparing? let us start and stick with the ts's NO Stands.
the 4100 has a riving knife while the gts10 has a splitter (which can easily be modded to have a riving knife, Or you can just buy a piece of metal, shape it into a knife and you still have all your original items complete)
the 4100 is 110v, you do need a stepdown which cost around 4k and you have to bring or carry when you move the ts. the gts10 you can bring almost anywhere since it is 220v.
the 4100 is imported, so warranty is very difficult to obtain since our local Bosch doesn't carry the model, while the gts10 is given full warranty like all local Bosch powertools. This is the main factor that makes the pricing different, I believe.
what I didn't like about the gts10 was its switch, the 4100 is easier to use but though the gts10 was somewhat harder to start, it provided better safety since you will not accidentally start it which can happen in the 4100.

the miter gauge and miter slots are the same and will accept third party accessories.
the fence, is slightly different is shape. the 4100 has a slightly angled fence which sometimes gave me headaches when cutting grooves on the side of a board, the while the fence of the gts10 is square and should do the same job better.
the fence design of the 4100 makes everything slide better since it will make less contact with the material, but cutting grooves or dadoes on the side of a piece makes it difficult to maintain squared. IMO the gts10 has a better fence in most ways. cut capacity is the same at 25" but the gts10 uses metric scales on its fence while the 4100 uses imperial or inches on its scales.

the stock blade, the one on the 4100 is very decent right out of the bat, while the blade on the gts10 somewhat sucks. both blades will cut well and last a while. get a good blade like the Freud D1040X(around 2k online) will make you wow even more. It will let you feel how hot knife feels in butter. though other costier models will be better, price factor comes in and not very much recommended for us average Juans.

someone didn't like the plastic body and I always wondered why. it is very tough and hardly is in the way. this is the same for both saws.

the top differs only slightly in finish with the 4100 slightly rougher than the smoother gts10's.

I have used the gts10 for a good while and all I can say is, If I have modded the splitter (I didn't bec it wasn't mine) it would perform like the 4100 less the transformer. Having said that, I believe if I had the gts10 ahead of the 4100, I will not upgrade to the 4100. Why bec it is almost the same saw with better local warranty less hassle to acquire and is ready for use wherever I go without lugging a transformer.
But I do have a 4100 and I simply love it.

hope this helps.....

Re: all about tablesaws

Perspective from a non-table saw user and from the facts I gathered, please do take this with a grain of salt.

Bosch 4100
- Bosch Smart Guard System
- availability of aluminum stand
- better switch
- fence has built-in T-tracks

Bosch GTS 10
- local service/support
- 220V configuration
- no additional shipping fee and waiting

I won't fill in the prices as it will only be a secondary factor to the main features that you need to prioritize above.

Re: all about tablesaws

Thanks, timb!

I agree with you. Setting aside the nice-to-have features, both saws can get the job done.
If you're going to invest in an expensive tool, why not spend a just a little more and you will have warranty and support. Otherwise nakatipid ka nga but at what risk?

@jarod,
You mean the GTS-10 does not accept dado blades? I thought it can, you just have to remove the blade guard, riving knife, etc. And I'm not so sure about the "no waiting" part. Two units lang daw ang inorder ng Panda? 😀
