Re: all about tablesaws

It goes up and down, but the blade guard is attached to it and cannot be easily dismantled. That's why there an option for the mod since it can go up and down with the blade, we can permanently remove the blade guard and modify the knife. The original knife even with the blade guard is higher than the blade.

labo ba?

I think I know why. It's probably a european style saw. IIRC in europe, they don't use the ts for dado cuts, they use a shaper for that. It's about safety, they have a strong woodworking lobby. Hence the blade guards, riving knives, etc, etc. Contrast that with the US classic, the unisaw with barely a splitter but with dado blade.

The euro look is basically sheet goods, laminate, and concealed hinges. With a panel saw and a drill press you can spam kitchens with that. The more general purpose US style saws seem more versatile, though more difficult to use.

I posted this before:

I've lost contact with the guy, but he's a foreign cabinetmaker who set up shop here. He started with a torq, then got modded it to get all that surface area. All that surface area... If I ever get enough space to resume woodworking that's the setup I'll be going for.

I think I head this before thus the use of dado blades are illegal to some European countries.

Re: all about tablesaws

nice info and pics sir jayL...
sa tingin ko the safety features of the gts10 are way beyond the features of the 4100
sa blade guard na lang yung 4100 parang pakpak ng angel...

for the benefits of all the members, interested sa gts10,
here are some pics taken from the last eb...

here are the master taking hold of the gts 10
giving us instructions on how to change the blades...

unfortunately, we've never tested the gts10 in actual, wala kasing plug adaptor

Re: all about tablesaws

I searched for the specifications of GTS10 and the TS has 30mm (1.18 in.) arbor..is it true from the one you guys tested in the last EB?

Re: all about tablesaws

Arbor size is 5/8", it's interchangeable with the 4100.

Dumb mistakes will always be dumb mistakes, unless . . . . you learn from it, and then it will be learning experience.
