@Timber

"Fire tooth" blade is a term used by European manufacturers for Stellite-tipped or Carbon impregnated bandsaw blade tips. This is supposed to last 2-3 times longer than your regular steel bandsaw blade. Check this article on Lenox Pro III blades ... http://www.woodworking.org/WC/GArchive99/8_23mattband.html
I get my blades from Mario's Merchandising near T. Alonzo. They have a brand called Lion and another UK/German brand i forgot but almost the same as LION in performance. It does last longer than my regular steel blades plus the cuts are better. The widest they have on stock is 1-1/4" but you could order wider for stellite-tipping but the wait is around 3 weeks for the carbon impregnation process.

@Joey

I also have a large 24" Bulacan BS but that darn thing kept breaking on the flywheel shaft plus a pain to balance and align not to mention the noise and wander of the blade cut. Keep looking for an original BS and you won't go wrong. I got my Beefy japanese around 80k from the previous owner but at last year's prices as per my inquiry it was around 200K. They have Taiwanese models around 140-180K at a that time around January of 2011 when i inquired from them.

thanks wasn't aware of the term "fire teeth" kasi... I actually almost ordered a Lennox BS blade from the US, now while I am aware of the durability, the price is about 5 times that of a regular blade. Plus I am not really sure someone can resharpen these to standard, hence I decided to get 6 steel blades instead. and since the price is almost the same I figured I can just dispose them when they get bad (though if I find someone to resharpen them, I would)... had a hard time getting to this decision before but it seems more logical for me at my current situation. Also carbide tipped blades start at 3/4" wide blades and my bs isn't really design for that, though I use 3/4" blades just not carbide tipped ones as these are stiffer and would work better for bigger wheeled bs's...

Right you are my friend, My 1-1/4" blade at 155" Long cost me around 1,500/set. However it's been cutting around 3000 bdft of Iroko hardwood (600 kg/cu.m. density) per month. So far i haven't had any blade change since April last year. It's worth the investment I made compared to the regular steel blades w/c break every 1000 bdft. cut plus blade joining is a pain. Carbide BS blades will break at the threshold of their metal and that will happen before the blades will experience any resharpening. However for uses like mine (production type) it's worth the money 'coz of the low down time in our line. Let me ask if they have 1/2" - 3/4" wide blades. Steel blades can be resharpened by a local company in Pasig. They will pick up your blade (saw blades, router bits and BS blades) and service it for a day or two. They charge reasonably and even do re-tipping using bronze brazing method on TS blades.

Anytime Sonny, By the way, Off- topic, I am considering getting the GCO 2400J. Lets hope it passes my test as I really need a good chop saw that will work hand in hand with the Makita LC1230 i ordered. Golden offered to let me try his service unit for evaluation. Gary, his marketing guy for SIA abrasives told him of my quest for the best in chop saws so Golden called me yesterday. I hope it will be better than the sucky Hitachi I bought last time. I don't like the Makita 2414-NB 'coz it's their China class so i bought their reliable LC1230 instead. Now i need a good abrasive chop saw to partner w/ the cold metal saw. What do you think?:nerves::bee:

I have this setup .... Bosch Abrasive Chop saw GC0 2000 Professional for rough cuts and the Makita LC1230 for fine cuts. I could not be more happier with both machines' performance.

For me I found Bosch 14" abrasive wheels and Freud Steel Demon blades to be a cut above the other consumables I have tried.

I would have preferred a 14" dry cut saw but could not get it in 220V. LC1230 is only 12".

I guess bulacan BS isnt that good ehy... Hmmm do you think you can sell the beefy japanese for same price you got (whisling)... Taiwanese is out of my range... I can only shell out 50k-80k for BS. Have to buy more wood for the projects...
