Re: Bosch 4100-09 Tablesaw, and then there are Three
Darn. I'd hate to have a portable device in 110V.
id rather have a 110V machine than a 220V tool that is going to waste my money, time and energy.

mine (4100) is working perfectly fine with a 2000 watt step down transformer...could not ask for more.

this is my third saw... Jet JTS10 was history and so was the Makita MLT100(both available locally and 220V ) but threw them away.. (categorically speaking hehe)

the 4100 has got so many praises due to features seen only in cabinet saws.

two words...safety and accuracy.

There's nothing bad in liking it, just plan well if you really need it and when 😉

Re: Bosch 4100-09 Tablesaw, and then there are Three

Ah well. My predicament is this:

I am using a Ryobi TS that vibrates and groans and trips. I'm about a third of the way from ripping 24 foot strip planks. Each plank is 15mmx22mm to cover about 25sqm of hull so you can just imagine how much work that is on a TS with a misaligned blade. After that, I will be doing some accurate cutting for the under and above deck parts.

The notion that the TS is the heart of a woodworker's shp is certainly true in my case.

I could slug it out with the Ryobi but, if I am going to get a good TS anyway down the line, may as well do it now.

Problem is, buying one and shipping it would take at least a month. By that time, I should be done with the ripping. And that's expense I'd be taking away from other things budgeted for the boat (like a motor!).

Balarila, you may try Armand's taiwan made TS. He has no complaints and comes with a riving knife (but the knife cant do non-trhough cuts) its about 9K if i remember correctly

My TS is a bit dear and heavy, 100KG at 33K but DOES NOT have a riving knife, only a stationary splitter.

I hope Armand is reading this and gives us some follow-up on his table saw.

and i believe induction motor siya.
i do believe ben's saw can handle almost anything with the proper blade and safe practices.

to put myself in balarila's shoes, i might finish the ripping with the ryobi TS and buy a dedicated tool when another project comes.

jet is selling a contractor saw btw aside from the jts10. no review whatsoever yet...why not pay a visit at panda see for yourself! we do not know what we are missing.

i am not sure also if timber had the chance to test drive this model.
from the looks, the jet contractor saw looks decent and the tabletop i think isnt painted..parang stainless ang tanda ko.

Re: Bosch 4100-09 Tablesaw, and then there are Three

oh btw...there are two issues of the bosch 4100 that i would like to raise in this thread viz.

1. the miter bar has a very minimal play..i wonder if we can solve this by installing a plastic washer sort of a cam washer...can you picture this jay/timber? it isnt really an issue because Bosch forwarned us owners printed in the user manual that this was done on purpose and gave advice on how to rectify the problem (?).

2. the knob for the miter is relatively small (cute i mean). i would have wanted a taller knob to push it ..is there a way to mod this?

thanks

Ah the jet 315mm contractor saw. Its the SAME as the torque table saw.

Its neat that it comes with a ball bearing left side slidiing table. No miter slots though (this is what broke the deal for me) and review of it online is scarce but from those who did, they are satisfied with it. you can play around with it sa electrowerk sa edsa.

here is a link from a UK seller http://www.axminster.co.uk/jet-jet-jts-315-s-site-saw-bench-prod32026/

as for my saw, mukhang hirap siya mag cut ng 2 inch stocks. Yup its induction motor and belt driven and is also alot quieter than my old jet-jts10
