Re: Bosch 4100-09 Tablesaw, and then there are Three

Got home to find my Bosch TS arrived. Spent the evening setting it up and aligning it. Spun the blade. Sweet music.

But won't use it until tomorrow when get a round pin plug adapter and tape it to the flat pin plug so I don't make the mistake of plugging it in 220V.

Unfortunately, my Freud blades are arriving in another package so will have to make do with the stock blade for now.

I'm a happy man!

My! What an untrusting lot! :p

Now, can we change the title?

Man, this thing feels real!!! Evey piece is a good build: pushstick is tough plastic, fence is real heavy, raising wheel is smooth, tilt-lock is solid, table top is bullet-proof. Ok...gotta go now. Magpupunas pa ako ng table saw...

Re: Bosch 4100-09 Tablesaw, finally we are four, anymore?

Did my first rip today.

First, set up took some time. The 4100 needs an auxiliary fence when ripping narrower than an inch. So I just clamped a piece of wood to the fence to make it thicker on the lower part. Set up my new Rockler featherboards. Nice. Taped a round prong adaptor to the plug so I won't make the mistake of plugging into 220v only to findout the round prongs fit too loose into my AVR. Removed it. Will have to figure out a failsafe contraption later.

Adjusted the featherboards. Rechecked. Plugged in. Checked about 5 times I am on 110v. Did my first rip: A 24 foot long lumber from which I ripped a 22mm thick piece. I was awed! It was too easy!

The remaining stock was a little more than 30mm. I need 22mm. Can the 4100 rip that thin or should I go to the thicknesses/planer? Decided to rip. Awed again!

If anyone here is thinking TS, I recommend to beg, steal, or borrow and buy this TS.
I won't make the mistake of plugging into 220v
make a dedicated base cabinet for your height and house the avr inside...unless the avr is multitasking..:p

I wrote 110 V on a piece of paper and taped it to the power cord... works well for me 😮

Table Saw Height?

Still honeymooning with my new Bosch Table Saw and cutting every piece of wood in sight.

But it's a backbreaking and knee-pulverizing task as I do it on my garage floor. Maybe I'll build me a table saw stand with wheels and put the AVR/stepdown-transformer in it.

Now the question: How high should it be? Does the workbench rule also apply? i.e. the tabletop should be as high as my wrist? For that matter, does that rule apply to all benchtop tools? (I may someday go into hyper-build-frenzy and do stands for the drill-press, miter saw, router table).

Re: Bosch 4100-09 Tablesaw, finally we are four, anymore?

since this is 4100 specific, merged the threads.
the 4100 stands lifts the ts to 38" from the top to the floor which I find perfect for my use. the wb height rule will not apply imho, you don't want to be able to lean towards the blade during cuts 😮 so a slightly higher surface is advisable.
