Re: Bosch 4100-09 Tablesaw, six and counting (still 2 more in the background)

if the store you got it from comes from the same location you intend to ship it to, you will get taxed in the US. order the item in Ca and ship it to a forwarder from another state, that way you don't get taxed...
the easiest way is to order it from me. hehehe but it would be much cheaper to order it yourself, of course you get the hassle that go with it....

good day sir timber, newbie here, been wanting to have a ts for quite some time, inquire lang po ako kung magkano po pag sa inyo umorder ng 4100... tia:thanks:

Re: Bosch 4100-09 Tablesaw, six and counting (still 2 more in the background)

thinking of making a sheet saw out of my 4100...the space con assembly table should be the size of a plywood i.e. 4 x 8...and put side by side the router table.

my 9 x 12 feet woodshop space is small and already filled with tools, cabinets and the workbench...plus the miter saw housing..its now really hard to move around..

thinking of moving this two tools outside...this larger space (20 x 14 feet) outside is covered on three sides and covered with roof.

what do you think guys?

i just want to have a concrete plan for the build.

tia

Wow, Doc. Are you thinking of cutting 4x8's? That's be one huge benchtop. Or a complex set of stands that somehow interlock or can be fixed to the floor. And you'd need an area about twice the size of plywood for infeed and outfeed space. I am, of course, assuming a fixed benchtop/rollerstand assembly.

Here's some simple examples:

http://www.plansnow.com/dn3092.html
http://www.plansnow.com/dn3099.html
http://www.plansnow.com/dn3087.html

Or were you thinking of putting the 4100 on wheels and somehow rolling underneath the plywood you're cutting? Technically possible but can't imagine how to operate that, though.

Why not an improvised fence for a circsaw instead? Built one by gluing an aluminum C channel on a 3/4 inch strip of plywood. Works great for me...until I can afford a tracksaw.

hi ding!

thanks for the input..

my intention is to make a 4 x 8 assembly table and the TS stand will still be on casters so i can still tow it somewhere else...but there is this thought to tuck in the ts and rt permanently.hehe

i hope to post pics of the build.

nice meeting you btw.:)

the easiest way to cut plywood without rearranging anything would be with a tracksaw................................... la la la la

The best pa rin yung track saw but at the price of leaning and/or kneeling since the the proximity of the cutter is always near the operator. Baka kasi sa case ni Doc, better yung standing position para less stress sa kanya.

you can always place the plywood on a workbench or table brader.... you don't need to be cutting on the floor, it just easier there since you don't need to carry the weight:chef: which I think is more stressful than leaning a bit...

Hmmm...not sure if I'm missing something but that would even require V to lean more in order to cut the whole width of the ply - worse tool control. I think my point here is regardless where you cut the ply using a tracksaw at hand, it would require more leaning and/or kneeling (which is the objective I think) than pushing it on a table saw.

Re: Bosch 4100-09 Tablesaw, six and counting (still 2 more in the background)

For cutting with circular saw: Haven't tested this idea yet, but I'm wondering whether having the plywood at an 'intermediate' height will help, i.e., higher than floor level but lower than full height (38.x" for those with cutting/worktable at same height as 4100 on its supplied stand). Say around 24-30"?

For non-floor cutting of full sheet, the worst cases are rip cut in the middle (2' from near-long-edge), and cross cut anywhere other than close to near-short-edge. I'm guessing that a lower table height might help in the first case. But for second case, seems the last few inches would still be unreachable ... so floor cutting (or in general, stepping on plywood) would still be needed.

Re: stationary plywood, moving/rolling table saw. Interesting idea, anyone on planet done this before? I suspect most people would tackle making a DIY panel saw instead.

+1

using a tracksaw.. its easy to rip the 8' length even if you have to reach 2 feet or at the middle of the sheets, since all you have to do is just push the saw.. unlike on using the homemade saw guide, you must concentrate on keeping the saw shoe in contact with the straight edge or else your saw got derailed. my only difficulty is in cross cutting at the middle of full sheet because its hard to hold down the plunge saw while reaching.( reach disadvantage for my size hehehe) so what i did was to rip cut first.

Sir ask ko lang, sang forwarder mo pinadala itong $165.00 cost na shipment? may binayaran ka ba sa Customs? ilang araw bago dumating dito?

balak ko din kasi bumili online.

thanks,

I used Forex Cargo to ship my 4100 bought from Amazon. Been using Forex for a number of years now and found them reliable. Also got to visit their shop in LA and meet the proprietor, Ging Carino. Pretty decent operation.

Takes 5 weeks nowadays for shipment to arrive. Forex can also consolidate stuff that you buy from different sources into a box. You pay for the size of the box, they don't care about the weight. They even go so far as to advise you if you still have some space in your box and if you would want to shop some more to use up the space.

They charge all-in (including customs processing) to your doorstep.
