Re: Bosch 4100-09 Tablesaw, six and counting (still 2 more in the background)

Hmmm, expanding the thought ... cost sharing on a custom-made long thin (low cross section) box at 4+ ft level, containing only long items consolidated from multiple sources. Couldn't help but think of the possibilities for the cost splitting formula, as it is somewhat similar to issue of multiple approaches to split a utillity bill that has 'fixed' and 'variable' components, but with a subtle difference between handling of linear inches vs. kwh or gallons. 🙂

It could get as complex as that. If ever I organize this, I'll reserve the right to declare the shipping cost share of each one. Ako libre! Ha-ha!

Probable sharing, declare a maximum length of the box, say 4ft, and everyone's max length will be this dimension (even a peson's merchandise of 3ft, length is calculated as 4ft). The sharing will be based on the ratio of cross-sectional area.

On the 4100, not sure if we can save on shipping on a group buy. I bought my 4100 with otehr stuff but Forex decided to charge me separately for the 4100 and shipped me in its original box and put all the rest of my stuff in a small box.

Hi Ding,

Actually if ever this plan of organizing a group buy pushes through, the main purpose here is that making sure the merchandise gets here safely thru you since you are the one who has the contact and know the ins and outs using forex. Another really is to minimize the shipping expenses by dividing the charges equally among the interested phm buyers. Yeah let us say the maximum length of a track saw box is 4ft, then lets all get the 4ft length but if one want a longer or double the size then probably he has to buy two pieces.

By the way can the track saw be attached lengthwise to get a full length size, let's say 8ft ?
hehehe, sorry for the ignorance ding, I'm not familiar with track saws, I just use a plywood straight edge guide for my CS.

Got it on the group buy. I meant no economic advantage on a group buy of the table saw. But tracks should be packable in a bundle.

On track saw, yes, the tracks are inter-connectable (if that' s a word). Check this out: http://www.amazon.com/Festool-482107-Guide-Rail-Connector/dp/B002MYVFRY/ref=pd_bxgy_hi_img_c

Problem with track saw is that the Bosch saws and tracks are not yet in the US.

Re: Bosch 4100-09 Tablesaw, six and counting (still 2 more in the background)

Shipping box dimensions as of 2010 (according to manufacturer):

Without stand 37.95 x 30 x 16.42 which rounds/ceilings to 38 x 30 x 16-17 = 84-85 in

With stand 39.13 x 30 x 20.9 which rounds to 39 x 30 x 21 = 90 in

...a difference of 6-5 linear inches

The slight difference in reported length seems questionable.

Best to confirm current dimensions with Bosch (US) via online chat or online messaging:
http://www.boschtools.com/
For chat, note that they are 12-15 hours behind PHT (Daylight Saving Time start -- March 11).

Re: Bosch 4100-09 Tablesaw, six and counting (still 2 more in the background)

Congrats, Crazyboi. I'm sure you'll be happy with it. My 4100 has become the heart of my woodworking projects.

Did you get some good blades? The stock Bosch blade is good enough but you'd be surprised what a good blade (e.g. Freud) can do at a small incremental price.

I would suggest that, if you do not have a stand yet, make the stand as your first project. Put some rollers with brakes for mobility when you need to cut long stock.

Enjoy!

Congrats bro. It will be worth the hassle and the wait. The 4100 is a very good tool. Loaded with a Freud blade you'll be happier. 🙂

Re: Bosch 4100-09 Tablesaw, six and counting (still 2 more in the background)

i'm really excited. want to start wood working again after a long break. one of the reason why i got this is i got too impatient tuning my table saw. might turn that to a disk sander nalang.

Re: Bosch 4100-09 Tablesaw, six and counting (still 2 more in the background)

today I was able to open the box of my TS4100-09, assembled the gravity rise stand but not yet able to mount the TS. It is quite heavy, It's bigger than I thought..

Got some blades also (infinity super general, 80-tooth laminate blade, & 8" dadonator)
