i am confident, when this happens to mine or timber's or jay's..timber can always find a solution..and we will follow..hehe

for now, i dont want to dream of having my baby (4100) to cry not even once.

cheers!

it seems the latter models have already been corrected... that is what I found today.

I start by flipping the saw upside down...

then, adjust the bevel to 45 degrees which will give you a very good space to tinker the motor...

now remove the carbon brush cover and brushes...

remove the four bolts on the motor cover...

twist the cover sideways and pry it lightly with a screwdriver (take caution not to hit the magnetic wires). and remove the housing cover.

both housing and bearing is full of wood dust...

Re: Bosch 4100-09 Tablesaw, and then there are Three

whaaaattt the ? sealed on one side and shielded on the other, not what others have posted on the other site. it seems that the Bosch engineers read online and did their homework...

I had a replacement bearing already ready to take its place...

but when I checked the shaft, I found out that the motor needed to make five revolutions for the blade to rotate once, meaning the motor runs five times faster than the blade(arbor) and the bearing I got was rated for 10,000 rpm only (C3 spec it wasn't).
so after cleaning and checking the bearing, I decided it (the original bearing)goes back until a better bearing is available.

Re: Bosch 4100-09 Tablesaw, and then there are Three

cleaning everything to the best that I can, and getting it back together is so much easier. just put the housing back on and tighten the four screws slowly and evenly making sure that the the cover goes in evenly...
from there I cleaned the lift mechanism and replaced the grease.

then I installed it back to the stand and ran it, just to check if it still works...

good news... it still does. and even better the bearing doesn't need to be replaced unless it seizes... which will give a screeching or high frequency squeal...
so doc V, enjoy your 4100, it should give you good work a long life...
cheers...

Nice work Timber. Thanks for the great photos. They really show how well built the Bosch TS is. The vertical movement system, using dual rails, is really much better than the swinging arrangement that lesser saws use. Also I noticed the slides are cast directly onto the motor's faceplate which make the connection solid

Having the proper kind of bearing puller is essential. Guys don't try to replace the bearing without it because it is very likely you will wreck the armature.

@Timb

Great job bro. I believe we can order any spare parts we need in the future from the US.

Can you please post some more pics of your puller. Where did you buy it?

Thanks 🙂

If the bearing used was half shielded, half sealed then what is the use of it being sealed on one side if dust can still enter through the shielded part?

well, the bearing that started this concern was a shielded one on one side and open at the other.which allowed the wood dust to attach to the grease and act as a grinding compound which damaged the rollers and increased the temperature during operation. the shielded side is good enough protection but not as good as rubber of the sealed side, thus a sealed type is still better.
but, the danger/concern is not as bad as posted at the other sites....

sure Jay, the puller I only borrowed, he bought it from our favorite store and is a LOTA brand...

it is a small bearing puller and very well made and easy to use...

unfortunately, I don't know how much he bought it for? heheheh

that was the initial thought, but lately, someone contacted Bosch USA and found out that the concern started with the earlier version 4000 ts and was corrected in the 4100. I reckon, the ones in the other site burned his bearing and melted the seal, but then again, we can never be sure... what is good is that mine has the newer corrected bearing 😉
