lowering the riving knife below the table cause I used the dado blade. I forgot to reset it and I got my first kickback...

and bec it was a wide heavy ply, it didn't fly out much, good thing my hand was very far from the blade and I was on the right side of the fence when it happened. and to think it was an easy resetting, what more if it was bolt on?

If the riving knife was down then means to say the blade guard and the kickback pawls were also not installed.

that is correct, that is why I love this ts, the knife can be lowered for non through cuts and raised for other cuts with the flick of a knob.

the ply just turn a bit (when my assistant pulled when he should have just caught it) and swooosh, it threw the board. surprised cause it was my first (hopefully my last) and had a laugh when I saw the reaction of my helper.

The blade guard system of the 4100 is so well designed in terms of safety that it made me confident to make this kind of cuts. My push sticks won't cut it. It has to be held in place by hand.
