since most are limited to the GMR-1 Laminate trimmer, Golden and I decided to put a little twist to it...
it all starts with a 1/4" thick aluminum plate...

then the hard part, cutting to your desired size... got mine cut to 4 5/8" x 6 1/4"...

drilled the center hole and mounting holes (not the best making these exactly centered though)

Re: Bosch GMR-1mini router table

removed the original base plate and screwed the plate insert on...

medyo centered naman, but not perfect as I wanted. and installing the motor made it clear that the centering was ok.

making the portable top would be next...

Re: Bosch GMR-1mini router table

I'm a fan of this project. This is what I have been thinking for so long aside from a Maktec which could handle 1/2" shanks. I am contemplating thoug if I really need that and could go with the 1/4" pansamantagal.

Will wait for feedback!

Re: Bosch GMR-1mini router table

it looks so cute. hahaha

Akala ko nabento mo na Timber yung gmr 1 mo?

This is great for quick RT work. And definitely easier to change bits. I get lots of cuts from changing bits in the 3612c, its sorround by plate leveling screws kasi. hehehe

right now i enjoy making tools rather than furniture.. I will copy this too 🙂

Jarod,

So far i have NEVER used any of my 1/2" shank bits on my makita router. puros 1/4 lang. both on and off the RT

Re: Bosch GMR-1mini router table

There are times when I wished my router was a mini specially for those quickie quickie edge trimmings etc.. It's becoming like ball pein hammers, you've got to have the right size for the right job. 😉

Re: Bosch GMR-1mini router table

i agree with the right size for the right job.

I thought i was an odd ball with having 4 routers (1 on the RT and also used for heavy duty plunge work, 1 for rough plunge work, 1 vintage craftsman for dovetailing with the jig and 1 gmr-1 for edge trimming) Until i found out from other forums that its common to have a few. The craftsman was an "heirloom" given to me , circa 80's and still works bloody well, Its most likely as old as me.

The GMR-1 is a real jewel . its 5K ( i think i paid 5k) worth spending.

Re: Bosch GMR-1mini router table

Ben, I started by using a jigsaw, then a metal file until I got one side straight. the I used my cms with a 120 teeth blade. and yes, I was able so sell what I had to Moji. in the router forums people have as much as 25 routers for different applications and with different bits (hindi na tintangal so the hieht doesn'r change once set).

Jay, fixed base lang available locally.

if one can only own one powertool only, I would choose a router. it is the most versatile tool in my shop... 😉

Jarod, it is best to have a 1/2" shank capacity on the rt, 1/4" bits will chatter(vibrate) when it requires a harder cut. I use 90% 1/2" shank bits bec. I feel safer using them. I haven't broken a bit, though I n=have damaged the carbides. very dangerous o break any of the two, they will fling like bullets in case you do break them.

Re: Bosch GMR-1mini router table

It would be interesting to watch this mini router perform on a RT and see what it can do. The alum plate build looks very good too.
