I'm planning to buy a cordless electric chain saw but my concern is the availability of the bar/chain oil. Where can i buy a chain and bar oil locally? US consolidator won't ship it. Check other local online stores wala rin. Can I use a typical motor or engine oil used in cars?

If you cant find that specific oil for chain saw, then you have no choice but to use locally available oil. Choose a high viscosity oil so it wont easily drip off the chain.

There is probably some motorcycle chain oil available locally but I am not sure if it fits the specs of a chain saw oil req.
How about visiting local chain saw suppliers in Metro Manila? They may have the stuff you need.

Bro ambo 2004,

You can use the 2T motorcycle oil sold by Petron or Shell if it will simply lubricate the
chainsaw guide bar. This will be fine for your guide bar. That is what I use for my
McCulloch and 2 Stihls, only they are petrol run power saws.
:chop:

I do not know what brand you will buy but you can buy your chains in Quiapo, Evangelista
or check this link I will post.

Or check out OLX, lots of cheap chainsaws for sale coming from Australia, petrol and electric powered..

Rosy/Fourtheboys96,
Thank you for the advise. I will buy the battery operated makita lxt 2x18v chainsaw. It will be more for backyard use only. I have several trees that need serious branch pruning. Typhoon season na ulit. Invested already in the makita battery set-up. I will also check a store in Festival alabang which is selling Stihl chainsaws.

Thanks ulit.

Bought a bar and chain oil in Alabang. Brand is ForestPlus by Stihl. Price is 500 pesos per liter. It is made in Germany.

I just bought an oregon chain from amazon as spare for my 36v makita chainsaw. Hopefully, it will fit. I recently used the chain saw to cut down a dead coconut tree beside my house. Cutting it was a breeze. The clean up was the hard part. The stihl oil lubricated the chain and bar well enough. Never used a chain saw before. I noticed that i had to adjust the tension frequently. Maybe I was doing it incorrectly.

Yes bro the clean up is always the tedious part( mabusisi ).
Check the screw that tightens the chain, maybe it needs to be tighten before use or
it is defective.
