Whats a good brand for a chisel set? I was at Ace in SM makati the other day and I saw a set by Creston. it's less than 500 ata yun. Is this a good brand? Any advice on what brand to get and where to get?

for chisels get Marples (Irwin, England made) visit Panda they have them at about 300.00 /pc. get two or three sizes first if price exceeds your budget, but they are worth it...
amongst the locally available hand planes... Stanley's are still the ones to get.

Or if Panda is far from you, I happen to notice that Irwins seems to flood True Value and Handyman nowadays.

Yes sir! I actually have a back issue of Fine Wood Working magazine which has an article on how to sharpen chisel and planes. Pero syempre iba pa rin yung matutunan ko ng actual.
Pwede ba ko mag enroll sa Timber's School of Wood Working and Craftsmanship? may subject din na P.E..... badminton. :p

Are Record Marples same as Irwin Marples? I saw a couple in T. Alonzo.
Dumb mistakes will always be dumb mistakes, unless . . . . you learn from it, and then it will be learning experience.

If you stick to those both Made in Sheffield England then probability is high that these are still the same. I believe Record was sold to Irwin and later Irwin moved chisels production to China.

There are two types of Irwin Marples. The Marples on the pic above is the same chisel Panda is selling.
Pic below is commonly available sa mga DIY Harware and home depot. I think its CHIna made.
