I am a newbie. Can anyone share a quick insight which company or brand has the best or the most suggested circular saw in the market? Which would you recommend ? Makita, Maktec, Bosch or Dewalt?
Re: circular saw brand
Bro they are all good and reliable brands, many members have faith in these brands, it will just be up to you how much you want to spend for a circular saw and how often you will use it for your intended projects. I will not pick or recommend a particular brand so I will not appear biased or favoring just a certain brand.
Simply follow your heart, your instinct on what you really want, like I said, they are all good brands and you won't go wrong with them. Just to be sure on your part, try to do some research on each brand regarding circular saws and find out for yourself what will fit your needs.
Good luck and cheers !!! 😉 :p

Re: circular saw brand
what do you intend to do with your circular if in case you get one?
are you aware that circular saws come in different sizes? in terms of blade diameter? Makita for one has this 12 incher? big cs means an increase in weight.
most of the time i use my circular saw (which is 6" makita) to cut sheets, 3/4 plywood that is..and you know what, i would like still to get myself a 5 1/2 inch circular saw instead..these 5 inchers are light and consume less power than their 6 incher and 7 1/4" cousins..
i still want to convince myself of getting a cordless 18V cs..but they are expensive at around 14K++ with just a single battery as free..one lithium ion batt may cost around 5K! and 5K can buy you already a decent corded cs.
if you intend to rip some 2 x 2 lumber using your cs then its another story..in which case i will recommend a 6 incher...the 7 1/4 is way too heavy for me..
you can go fine with a Makita, Bosch or Dewalt...or be lucky with some australian surplus like Ryobi...if you are going to use this on occasion, you can get the surplus but if you earn your money the hard way..then id go for the reliable brands i mentioned above.
i am not sure if you are also familiar with the so called tracksaws...id love to have one those...their features unseen in the regular cs.
hope this helps

Re: circular saw brand
I totally agree with sir violaine. Before I was shooting for skil circular saw, but ended up with Makita 5900NB its a 235mm blade, I know its bulky but I still have other plans like converting it to a table saw, and of-course I got it for a very competitive price. I'd like the idea of cordless circular saw it looks cool though 🙂
I did a lot of asking, searching, forums and Yotube but at the end of the day I have to decide for myself and I'm happy with it.
